Quote from Thomas Tuchel after last night`s game.
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says he would be "stupid" to think his side can challenge for the title while he has so many players out injured and ill.
Asked whether their title hopes are over, an exasperated Tuchel replied: "How should we be in it?"
The German manager explained: "We have seven Covid cases. We have five or six players out for six or more weeks. How should we compete in a title race?
"Everyone else who has a full squad, everybody in training has the full power to come through this league.
"We would be stupid to think we can do it out of Covid and injuries. Just play and everybody would be stupid to do it without 23 fit players."
Chelsea team that started and finished the game last night were purchsed for a combined Transfer value of nearly £350 million.
So is Tuchel another Top Four manager just moaning, when they don`t get a result? Funny you don`t see any of the lesser sides who cannot splash the cash like Chelsea moaning about lack of players.
Are Chelsea being hard done by?

Every club buys the success they can afford. Some over-achieve on their spend, others underachieve on their spend.
I’d love it if Spurs got new owners who blew £350mil on our team - in fact, it’s what dreams are made of!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You wouldn’t hear me moaning if we suddenly had some rich owners who just saw us a a play thing
I’m not sure I trust some of our recruitment team to spend it though!
Spending money doesn’t guarantee success either ….just ask a man United fan
You need a strategy too …..United just throw money at flavour of the month players and hope it works
Don’t get me wrong it must be nice to throw money around and not worry about if it works or not
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Haven't Man United won 13 Prem titles? They didn't win those with a zero spend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was talking about the last few years …i didn’t make that clear , sorry
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No problem. I get your point.

The only thing that should be offside is a players foot, not his arm, finger, toenail, sleeve. It`s a total nonsense that is ruining football and needs binning ASAP. I don`t care if it is swings and roundabouts. VAR is such a nonsensical load of rubbish. It was essentially brought in to clear up absolute howlers, not to rule out goals by a miniscule of a mm through a screenshot at any angle you want, after an incident.

True, fans really won't care where the money is coming from as long as they are winning the trophies. However, the trophies have come directly from having large investment made by those entities.
There is no natural progress from the club, just an inflated one.
-----------------------------------------------------
I'd disagree with that as a Chelsea fan actually.
Yes Roman's money brought us to a whole different level, and you could certainly argue it was unnatural. But if you look back at us since the mid 90's a progression was happening, the only next step upwards was that final one of becoming a Premier League & Champions League winning team.
Even from the outside Man City had a progression of sorts too. Their takeover missed that step we had of transitioning from a solid mid table PL team to a top 4-6 one, but they'd climbed out from a lower baseline to get to where they were before it.
Newcastle's the one that'll feel a bit jarring cos they've been stagnant for SO long

Agree with using the foot placement Sandy. Defender’s lagging foot placement and the attacker’s leading foot placement. If level, or equivocal then the goal stands. Fans want to see goals

Good luck being a linesman and identifying which foot is which (wearing identical colours on their boots as may be the case) through the tangle of legs 40 yards a way whilst those feet are running, so the attackers foot might be a couple of feet higher than the defenders foot.
You would then still get fans crying because Kane's toe was correctly flagged offside and it was too tight and it isn't fair. So nothing will have changed.

Yes Chelsea were making progression mid 90s, but they were about to go bust, because they had overspent even back then to try to get success. They got incredibly lucky they got bailed out when they did.

No, you were referring to offside. Offside is primarily monitored by the assistant referee. Therefore any change has to be made with the assistant referee in mind - you can't say that offsides that don't lead to a goal are measured by all body parts and offsides that lead to a goal are only measured by feet.
The majority of offside decisions are decided by the assistant ref with no recourse to VAR. Changing it to feet makes their job significantly harder. The payoff for making their job harder (and more likely to lead to mistakes) is that you still have fans moaning because a toe was in front of the defender. Nothing changes, except the assistant refs job is harder.
