These stats seem quite impressive.

I'm not sure they're that impressive given the comparison is between Neves and our midfielders. I'm sure there are a lot of midfielders out there who would come out on top against our midfielders in each of those areas.

If you compare him to similar players around Europe's top five leagues, he doesn't rank that highly in any particular metric.

One of the things about Neves that's always struck me is his short to mid range passing isn't as effective as his long range passing so if you're after a controller and high volume passer who's also progressive over shorter distances, Neves isn't really that player.

Yes. You're right there in terms of them being against our current midfielders.

I'll be honest. I'm only going by what I know. I don't watch much football outside United and some PL games nowadays. Just not into it quite as much as I was.

If Neves was signed do you think he could make the adjustment with the shorter passing. Also, I recall you were a fan of Weigl. Is he still someone you'd go for as a leftfield option? I see he's not played that much for Benfica this season.

Yeah I was a big fan of Weigl when he was at Dortmund but he just doesn't seem to be that good anymore unfortunately.

Like I said above I don't watch enough football to have an opinion on who we should buy but surely there's someone out there in the world that can help Ralf provide the 'control' he's looking for in midfield.

I think he's good enough. Not only that I also think he's got a good character about him too and that's something we'll definitely need. Wasn't he a young captain at Porto? Now would be the ideal time for him to make the step up as he's still only quite young.

I knew someone would state this. Well, unless you're deluded going from Wolves to United is a step up. That's just the way it is. Same as I'd say Birmingham to Wolves is a step up even though I remember them winning a trophy.

Exactly. Some fans are plain idiots when they make statements like this. We are having a horrendous season yet we are still above the mighty Wolves.

I don't watch enough either. So generally have no opinion on players not in the PL, and often not even then.

Always wanted Neves, he’s quality.

He works hard, has great positioning, tenacious, a good passer of my he ball and real threat from outside the box. A bit of everything to his game really.
