Luis Diaz

A lot of talk this morning about the potential signing of Luis Diaz. I’m not on Twitter so has anyone heard anything to confirm it’s true or just paper talk?

If we are spending 60mil on someone it means we are selling someone for more than that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If phillips and origi are punted for 10m each I dont think a net outlay of 40m is beyond our reach given our lack of spend in the summer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Neco has been allowed to leave end of Jan. We should get 15-20m for him.

Neco origi and Philips shpuld aim to get 50 mil in total for those three

whats this?

we can't afford a player talk?

in case people missed this: jota 45mil. thaigo 20mil. tsmiskas 12mil. "net spend" 60mil although over 2 years.

last summer we just about broke even with grujic fee being paid in 2022 by porto so they balance thier books. (so that can be discounted off the fee)

so I really don't see why peoepl think LFC simply cannot buy anyone without a forward leaving as we have not spent that much over the past 3 years AND we have phillips and williams also reportedly looking to move on with a 25-30mil possible haul. Origi will be a very small fee as he is out of contract in summer.

Now..... parking that part of the conversation its unlikely to be a real story as the club and manager have been briefing of no signings.

15, 15, 5-7 = 37mil max. I think that'd be good business. Origi contract is supposed to be up in the summer so if someone pays 7mil now it'd be amazing.

12 with add ons for phillips is a joke but some club has only bid 7 which is laughable. but form there unless theres two bidders it'll be a struggle. its probabaly burnely or someone that way inclined to be really cheap.

Williams is deluded if he things a prem club will swoop in. but given ki got us 10mil off wolves anything is possible i guess.

He is wrong 90% of the time:

James Pearce
@JamesPearceLFC
#LFC interest in Luis Diaz. Porto attacker is highly-rated but not on the agenda currently. Asking price (£60m plus) is too high for someone who would be back-up.

The slant in The Echo, reporting as best they can I’m sure, seems to be generating, a la Barca/PSG etc., the transfer of Naby out of the club.

I hope that doesn’t happen, and I can’t envisage the boss going along with it.

The more I read stories of transfers originating in one or other Spanish newspaper about our club the more I disregard it.

pearce is behind a pay wall now. He can't afford to be wrong. I think on the balance here pearce as been consistent in his prior messages that LFC were not going to sign anyone this January and would focus on internal resources while ACON is on.

Now, if he got briefed at some point to that effect well and good but he would i think be quite upset of the club via whomever said that and said go ahead and report that and then turned round a week later and signed coutinho and diaz.

Now..... could a journo look at the extremely high fee and decide to jump to a conclusion? yes i think so.

Pearce words things like he has insider briefing all the time. If you read it the "agenda" word is very deliberate that makes it sound like he knows who is and who is not a target. He does this all the time.

the issue for me is that we cannot ever assume any story has any merit now as they flow through so many different sites and titles get changed gradually on each.

Take the name contract one. If you drilled through the 3/4 sites from the initial splashy click bait article you find the actual source for the thing is an opinion piece someone made up.

It was all over i think the bbc website as mane unhappy at salah contract level and it was quoted a ssourced from goal.com. but there you coudl follow it back to some guy waffling on in an opinion piece.

But yeah. anything sourcing from Spain, italy or south America. forget it. Its 99.95% agents and spin.

Totally agree with your comment. For me, a player, wearing Red, shaking Jurgen’s hand inside Anfield for the first time, then we’ve got him. Before then. .?
