Thiago

Looks like he is going to be out for a very long time.

Out transfers on the whole have been very good but one aspect seems to nit be great which is buyingplayers woth known injury issues, primarily Ox and Thiago.

I think we should sell him to Barca if they really do want Thiago. I think one of Ox and Keita should be gone as well come summer.

You say anything that goes against the gravy train you instantly get accused of being a fan of another club or someone with a sock account.

I got abuse yesterday for saying the Anfield pitch looked poor.

thiago is alright. he's the only guy who can play on the half turn and it makes a big difference.

however he's aging and very injury prone now and for 200k a week its not great is it?

We need to start thinking carefully about this midfield
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Id agree its the area that needs to be looked at for the long term most urgently but im pretty relaxed that the club will do just that.

People keep going on about this squad aging but the club are aware of it. They have brought jota in up top, konate in at the back and id fully expect a young midfielder this summer. We have a brilliant squad, we only need tweaks here and there. I quite like our approach of adding 1 or 2 that are real quality as opposed to our old scatter gun approach where 6 or 7 would come in with only maybe half cutting it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
not sure its at the level of tweaking at this point.

Its not a rebuild but it is getting there as we are allowing the club to age

GK: perfect
RB: Doing ok, willimas might go and bradley is young
LB: looking good.
RCb: very good if gomez is happy
LCB: konate being able to back up VVD makes this good
no 6: fabinho looking slower, but no real back up. Morton is too yuong yet
No 8s: issues here. lack of running especially. elliott is the future but not sure if jones is the right balance if elliott plays. work to do here as henderson, milner, ox, keita and thiago don't offer those legs (any more sadly)
Rw: Salah and no back up. gordan is 17.
CF: for me its firmino and ?
LW: mane and jota. quite good.

We need more than a 1 or 2 player tweak now, 3 players this summer imo. Forward, CM and imo DCM option.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Next to no chance we get anyone in January. I think it’s all about judging the perfect timing for bringing new players in. If we have ambitions of maintaining the quality we currently have, then the replacements won’t be cheap, and I doubt they’ll want to play second fiddle to our current players for too long. Which imo, is the main reason we’ve been fairly quiet in the market.

What are the chances of LFC increasing their profit margins in the event of signing Bellingham? We’ve made our two glorious - and equally expensive signings in the form of Virgil and Becker.

And we all know that the signings only came about, and for the prices quoted, because of the sale of Coutino to Barca. Without his sale, I suspect neither player would be on our books.

Bellingham? £80-211M?

No chance.

Jota arrives though and shows everyone it's not a static 3 that nobody can compete with.

The midfield is the same. Ox was expensive and had a bad injury. Keita was expensive has had had a litany of injuries, thiago is wage expensive and has a litany of injuries but all the while henderson and milner age out. It's not like we didnt try it's just not gone perfectly. The problem is it needs fixing no matter how we ended up here. It's hard to see how we can change out slightly declining fortunes without it being expensive though.

If nothing else selling off ox and keita will not generate much.

We have spent on overall average 30mil per year under klopp. One big summer of 126mil then zero for the next summer to balance it.

It's not impossible we want spend 100mil but I do think we need to see that the account ts to be published in june or whenever are likely to be very bad due to covid closures so we do need to temper our expectations as well.

We need to rebuild and strengthen but we wont imo be able to do it too easily

1 of keita or ox should be going in the summer. Ive been saying the same thing for the last 2 years. They are both on big wages and we get nowhere near enough from either in terms of minutes on pitch and quality when thet are there.

That aside having fab, hendo, thiago, elliott, jones, 1 of the above, and lets say a new singing all competing for the 3 places i dont think is too bad a group. Im pretty certain we will make a midfield signing in the summer, who though is anyones guess.

its like losing lovren (no big loss imo) but not really replacing well not trusting nat and co until there was literally no other choice. Despite knowing vvd was the only ever reliable CB one injury to him and we were asking for it.

Same with mf, Gini left, our only reliably fit MF who barely missed a game like vvd. The rest were an increasingly absent fab and hendo picking up more and more niggles especially moved to cb an unrealiable thiago, keita ox and an ageing 50 yr old Milner. Coupled in with kids Elliott and Jones who have both missed a lot of games with freak injuries.

obvious has happened, unlucky with the kid injuries but the rest im not surprised by. Same with the cb issue last year, unlucky with the vvd injury and surprised by the trying everytthing until trusting nat etc but not surprised once vvd was out relying on matip gomez etc staying fit was a pipe dream.

i expected hendo and fab to continue picking up more niggling injuries, knew ox keita thiago would miss a lot of games, and in ox/keita case takes far too long for them to find form when they are actually available.

Disappointing Jones and Elliott have missed so much of the season already, at a time they'd be getting a lot of game time and experience at the top level.

Despite people on here saying we didn't need him, the importance of Gini in the midfield can be understated.
