Rashford. He's done isn't he.

So Rashford is having a stinker, again. There are actual groans when he touches the ball. This version of him should not be starting for this club. I wonder if we could sell him off before he becomes unsellable.

For those looking for excuses for Rashford, could it just not be that he isnt as good as wed hoped / expected?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You say excuses. I say reasons backed up by the fact he has had well documented injuries. Its not like we are making things up.

Of course, it could be that he wouldn't have progressed had we all hoped even if he hadn't had these injures. But I think that any United fan that has seen Rashford before and after his back injury can see that he doesn't have the same pace/doesn't move the same.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It could be the injuries,.but it could also very well be that he peaked a year or 2 ago.

Big if, and even if he can, did that form match the likes of Mane or Sterling ? I doubt it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly, he was playing in a worse team under a worse manager. You are comparing chalk and cheese. If we are to see the best of our attacking players we need to address our midfield.

Secondly, over the last full seasons, Rashford has a goal involvement every 109 minutes. Mane has one every 126 minutes and Sterling every 115 minutes.

So even in a worse team, under a worse manager and with his injury problems, he is still returning better figures. But sure, lets sell the lad who has put his body on the line for the club that last 2 years and never moaned.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

His body on the line? Talk about dramatic. He is in the side largely due to his athleticism. And lets not pretend anyone has held a gun to his head when askes to play.

You could argue he is around good players at Man United. He has Ronaldo, Cavani, Pogba, Fernandes, and he even was good at United a couple of seasons ago. Whether it is down to the managers or injury, I think you have to look at the player himself too. He simply doesn't produce enough when it matters these days.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No doubt he is struggling this season, but the last 2 seasons he has still produced good numbers, despite playing with injuries. There won't be many players in the PL with a better combined goals & assists per minute ratio than him in the last 2 seasons.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I remember people making the same argument for Martial a season or so ago.

Yeh. He peaked right before he had a double fracture in his back. What a coincidence eh? When players (especially pacey ones) peak young, it is usually because an injury robs them of their pace. Like Owen for example.

Of course he put his body on the line. He was playing more games than he really ought to have been because we were shot of attacking players due to injuries. He made himself available despite the fact he clearly wasn't up to speed. Its the very definition of putting your body on the line.

I think Rashford is done. Talk of offering him a new contract which is a huge mistake.

Who are you to say he shouldnt have been playing / wasnt fit enough to play as often as he did?

Having good seasons previously doesnt necessarily mean he will replicate them.
