Yeah even an FA Cup game which would have been a decent start for Patterson at Everton, Coleman got the nod.

Everton have been after Patterson for a year. They paid up to £16m for him. He is a full international who has handled pretty much every challenge thrown at him.

They are pretty confident that he is going to be their RB solution for some time to come.

Whilst he is just in the door it seems fairly sensible if they want to manage him, manage fans expectations and manage his integration into the team.

they are just arguing for argements sake.

Im sure they all believe that Joelinton is better than Kyogo. Josh Sargent is better than Jota. Duffy is better than CCV and Starfelt. Kenny Mclean is better than macgregor.

Im sure That Odsonne Edouard isnt EPL level .......

but yeah none of the current players in Scotland would be good enough to play in EPL.

Just the conclusion that even our best young talent and even our best players Kyogo, Aribo etc.. might not just get into a first 11 down there. Its only an opinion no need to jump to the defence of Paterson I wasn't disparaging the boy, only giving an opinion.

Erm. He came to our league from the EPL. My point was about any of our current crop being taken by an EPL team as a direct replacement for one of their current players.

You’ve said no player in our league would replace any EPL player. So Duffy, who was out of favour at Brighton moved to our league and failed, so Celtic didn’t try to sign him. He then returned to Brighton, and has directly replaced their cb, and flourished as a star performer in the league.

So he’s not good enough for Celtic, yet no Celtic defender or any other defender in the league would be good enough to replace him at Brighton?

Some mental gymnastics that. Maybe they won’t, but it would be a mental take to say no SPFL player would be good enough to replace any EPL player. Which is the whole point of talking about the speculation.

No La Liga player could replace anyone at Celtic because we are not currently looking and indeed haven't shopped there since being burnt with Miku and Lassad in 2012.

And I was just wanting to clarify what that opinion was.

You seem to be saying that because he didnt start against Hull it shows he isnt good enough to get into Evertons first eleven.

I would say at best it is taking a slightly negative view of the whole situation. It is certainly ignoring all of the circumstances around Patterson - the fact he is just in the door.

Do you think they have followed Patterson for a year, paid Rangers a record fee for him then watched him in training for a couple of days and thought he wasnt up to it?
