What are peoples views on it now it’s been around for a couple of seasons?
I hated it at first and it still has many issues but I have to admit I kind of like the assumed assurance it brings in the sense that very little is missed. I’ve watched games where there is no VAR and while it’s ‘purer’ you do see things missed that VAR would have resolved.
Going forward - and I’m not sure this can and will happen or else referees might strike - I’d like to see the entire VAR department be run by an independent panel made up either of ex footballers or people trained specifically for VAR as the current referees seem to either be incompetent or scared to overrule their mate. Oh, and I’d change the offside rule on VAR to anything behind the foot (as in if the players back foot is level with the defender but he’s leaning forward he’s still onside).
Anyone else growing to like VAR, but not quite loving it?

It's been sold brilliantly to the public but it hasn't solved any problems that it was supposed to. It's changed the rules of the game several times so far and created a two-tier game with clubs and competitions that don't have it installed.
But it is a convenient way for North American broadcasters in particular to get adverts on during games, so there's that I guess.

I'd put a 60 second Countdown clock on decisions to rule out goals. If a decision can't be made in 60 seconds, then the goal stands.

I vote kitty to take over as head VAR person
Also 100

I'd take that job

VAR was brought in to improve refereeing standards, in its first year it was abused and used to ensure Varpool won their meaningless and tainted covid league title, and has been used and abused to favour their favourite clubs ever since.
They need a complete clear out of officials and to get some in from abroad, hopefully that will eliminate some of the bias and incompetence.
The current use of it is doing more harm than good to all but a couple of clubs from the Northwest.

Pre-VAR, the pubs, terraces, newspapers (remember them) workplaces, were full of bollicky discourse about poor/hasty/incorrect (even biased) decisions. We all knew the way forward was the relative immediacy of 'evidence'.
——
I actually think that was part and parcel of being a football fan.
Another thing VAR has robbed us of.
Now we just moan about stoppages because of the Intrusive nature of the tech.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So now you bemoan correct pffsode decisions going against you instead of completely incorrect ones?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Define correct?
Anyone who is generally level is onside.
Fundamentally it’s a simple debate about the spirit of the game. Ruling goals out in the manner we’re seeing is a disgrace as far as I’m concerned.
A computer can say I’m wrong but a computer lacks the ability to understand benefits of doubt, the ebb and flow of a match, the emotion etc
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Correct as per the written laws of the game under which the game is meant to be played.
Anyone who is level is onside - Anyone who is not level is offside. This has been the case for the last 30+ years.
I find it weird that you think it is a disgrace to rule illegal goals put but, by omission, you think it is perfectly fine to let teams unfairly concede goals because the laws aren't applied properly. The latter is clearly more disgraceful than the former.

BUT IT IS A CONVENIENT WAY FOR NORTH AMERICAN BROADCASTERS IN PARTICULAR TO GET ADVERTS ON DURING GAMES, SO THERE'S THAT I GUESS.

Oh I heard MSNBC was doing it, Fox had commercials during the game too for a while but maybe the fuss stopped them.
I notice BEIN is using VAR stoppages to show adverts during AFCON.
