A sign that Newcastle have too much money? Reminds me of a time when I got a bonus from an old job that was twice what I expected and spent £600 on a first generation, boxed Optimus Prime toy.
The buyers remorse was strong that day. Once Wood ends up with about 5 goals this season I wonder if they’ll wish they’d perhaps spent that money on someone who isn’t an average Burnley player. Even Lingard would probably score more and for that kinda price.
Chris Wood @ £20 million

In a funny way Chris Wood may be better off if Newcastle go down. He'd probably stay on presumably large wages with them in the Championship and start most weeks. If they stay in the PL I can see them getting a shiny new toy for up front!

Yep, he will be ideal if they do go down, will enjoy playing in front of a big crowd and likely score a good few goals.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because they are so rich I don't think going down would be a disaster for them either. It'd probably bring a feel good factor back if they did go down and next season won a lot of games and came back up. I think they'd be in a stronger position then somehow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh, possibly. There is always the chance that they go down and get stuck there for a few seasons. Which would be amusing.

It can be difficult to get back out and they might have to rebuild the squad to get the right players in. Can be hard if you have a few that think that they are too good for the league and are looking for moves elsewhere.

It won't be easy for them you'd imagine but I'd expect them to come straight back up if they did go down. They're not adrift in the PL at present though so maybe they'll save themselves anyway.

Looks like 3 from 4 at the bottom.
Burnley 2 games in hand on them, Watford 1. If neither win any of those games i would fancy Newcastle.

Let's hope it's a good scrap at the bottom. The title has seemingly been won already so the interest will be the top four battle and the relegation spots.

I think that Newcastle will likely stay up personally. They have got Watford at home at the weekend. Huge game.

I can see Watford changing their manager again soon. We know what their owners are like.

Appointing Ranieri was a shocking idea even by their standards. Apart from the miracle season at Leicester when is the last time he’s done a good job anywhere?
