Wasn't expecting a lot from today, would have been happy with a point, especially bearing in mind our historically poor record in London in recent years.
Started brightly, looked sharp, passing was good and Harrison who is looking back to his best puts us ahead.
Suddenly a couple of injuries at same time and the worry one has over Forshaw being able to stay fit comes to fruition, we've had a couple of good games, but could he stay injury free long term, it seems not.
Firpo going out again after just a few games back and Bate and Held coming in an one worries that we're sun for an overhaul from West Ham.
West Ham put the pressure on and teh inevitable happens from a corner.
But we're not looking overrun. Struijk is having a good game, so is Koch and Ayling hugely influential at the back and driving us forwards at times.
Harrison puts us ahead again and game is a good one. Ref doing well, players not overreacting with fouls and it's hard to tell how it's going to go.
Bate was running around a lot but not the most effective, but it mist hurt to be subbed back off and he did not look happy back on the seats, Hjelde fared better, didn't look anything special but seemed capable.
Although we got pegged back again, Dallas was getting better and better and it was his steal that set up Harrison's third, Klich was everywhere and Alyling was becoming a box to box player....
Raphinha looked like he could go past anyone whenever he wanted and what an amazing free kick.
Even better though is his ability to spot and execute a pass and what a pass for Harrison to hit a Patrick and then again to go past Diop and brilliant pass to set up Klich.
Personally I felt Rodrigo was not offside when ball was played, but just glad that goal ruled out was not influential on the result.
Rodrigo looked really rusty. James not that effective BUT he does draw fouls around the oppositions box.
Thought Meslier made a couple of key interventions, one was standing his ground v West Ham attack, another was Jarmalenko save.
Just a note again that well done to ref and players fo not making meals of fouls, there was one in particular where Declan Rice just waved away a aplyer trying to apologise, Rice was trying make out not wasn't a big deal, the game needs more of that and Rice in particular was a great player for West Ham today and I do harbour the hope that we can see him and Philips playing for us today.
Finally, lovely words from Souness today who was raving about Leeds. He know what he's talking about and absolutely spot on with his comments about teams asking for matches to be called off but saying look at Leeds bench ie other teams should stop whining and be like Leeds
Thoughts from today

Some light reading 😂
Kebab, I believe you are correct about being considered on the goal line. Also, reading the link I’m now convinced West Ham’s goal last week shouldn’t have stood, Hjelde’s touch should have been considered a save and therefore Bowen interferes with play.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I spent hours debating the ‘save’ law last week before realising that it’s actually the rule above made it irrelevant
“rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent’
Save or no save, It deflected off hjelde and Bowen was clearly interfering with play.
So conclusions:
- Last weeks was definitely offside,
- this weeks, by the letter of the law, also offside.
- not many of us seem to understand the rules
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it’s been the ideal opportunity to clarify the laws for all of us.
A pleasurable light read…

Still not sure how Antonio stayed on the pitch.
His first booking was probably not a red but his following dive to try and con the ref was a definite yellow too.
Should have walked well before the equaliser I think.
Dean bottled it without doubt.

Yeah this is an interesting comment stoopo.
Referees apply some laws fully. The Klich goal whilst a correct decision is taking the offside law to the absolute extreme to disallow a goal that has a few more inches to travel only and absolutely no chance that rodrigos touch changes the outcome. You have to accept it because it’s the law and referees would tell you this .
However there are laws in football referees simply don’t use
Yellow for diving has become a rare thing again. Wasn’t too long back referees were dishing out yellows and retrospective action was taking place after games but that all seems to have stopped now
Dissent - you can lip read players swearing at referees non stop during games. Sunday league football they’re getting sent off by local referees. There is a lot of discussions at lower level refereeing about how the top officials not applying the law makes their job harder and they take a lot of abuse
Keeper 6 second rule. Does this even exist still. Did any referee ever give a free kick for it?
Just some examples off the top of my head.
Frustrating!

Completely agree Kebab.
Being Leeds, of course, we expect most decisions to go against us. The two big ones yesterday definitely did.
I guess it just reinforces the siege mentality eh

I was shouting red when he blatantly dived in the box. Should have been a second yellow for simulation.

Simulation seems to have stopped being given since a certain player moved to Man City and became an England regular

Rodrigo was in an offside position, however did he prevent any West Ham player getting to the ball, obstruct their line of site, or cause the ball to go in the goal if it would otherwise have missed? No. Not interfering with play, unlike last weeks fiasc

If Rodrigo doesn’t touch the ball, he’s in an offside position but not interfering with play…goal!
Correct decision was made this week, last week it went against us. We didn’t deserve anything from the Cup game and I think we all would prefer 3 points.

Just done a bit more research. Apparently if you touch the ball, even if it makes no difference to the outcome you are interfering.
I guess another example of the law being an ass,
Still think last weeks decision was wrong though.
