Sad to see it being reported tonight that the legend Paco Gento has died at age 88. What a player. What a career. What an unbeatable number of trophies won.
If you don’t know who Paco Gento is, all I can say is… kids…cah!
One for the really oldies on here…

Ashamed to say I don't know this person...but a Legend of our golf club died aged 93 today too, so he's in it seems good company

I hadn't heard of him, probably because he stopped playing 50 years ago.
RIP anyway.

Old golfers never really die, they just get lost in the rough

Golfers have termed a terrible lie as a Boris.

I remember Gento, but never saw him live. I saw him on black and white TV, he was fast a great player. I mainly remember the the Real Eintracht final, a wonderful game, it was run by the super Di Stefano. Real won 7-3

Manu52, I believe if you were at OT on the night we beat Real Madrid 1-0 on our way to the final as I was, you would have seen Ghento
The return leg was not shown live on TV (what’s that all about) we listened on a tiny transistor radio, about 20 odd kids in Belmont youth club huddled around around a little box more crackling than commentary
Happy days

Hi Eric, yes I was there, but I hadn't remembered Ghento, in those days, and now but less, I only really watched our players.

Ghento was the last remaining player in that 67/68 side from the glory days of the 50s
