A few things got confirmed

After the excitement of the display against Leicester, we now have a bit more clarity:

Bergwijn is decent, a genuine attacking threat and deserves more game time.
Doherty is absolute toilet. He played the best 45 minutes of his entire Spurs playing career against Leicester, and he can now leave.
Davies is still useless unless at LCB.
Despite a marked upturn in form, Winks still has it in him to give the ball away and make poor decisions.

I think this performance was useful with the window still open. If we’d gone into the break after the Leicester game I could see the board being much more relaxed about what’s needed.

I might cost approx 100m to get in some decent upgrades on what you currently have?

Do any of you feel Levy will loosen the purse strings?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not in January. Free transfers/loans/ and bargains is what in the market for this month.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
fair enough, very few top transfers happen in Jan, have to see what happens comes season end
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s a shame as we’re still very much in the running for anything up to 3rd spot. And a bit of sensible investment could really help us cement one of the CL spots. But it’s just not how our club operates.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As an outsider I can appreciate the way Levy fiscally runs the club, he's no mug in that way but as a football fan I can see that a few upgrades would CLEARLY. help Spurs atm and the cash for a top 4 spot must be an incentive for his way of thinking?

His fiscal running which as you say is admirable will continue to keep the team as nearly men. There's a real chance of a CL spot available this season whereby at the season start most considered the top 4 a foregone conclusion.

He has brought in a top manager he needs to back him. Spurs need to act like a big club (as much as I can't stand that description)

Aye it's a terrible way to describe a club

And I agree, sometimes you gotta put your hand in your pocket and spend the cash, Spurs I think have the money but it remains to be seen if Levy will do?

Utd if needed will spend and it looks like even Arsenal will drop a few quid?

Shame we don't have wanyama and dembele in the middle think we'd be well set for a 343 if the best CBs stayed fit.

Top 6 is a formality imo and as long as arsenal don't get 4th I can liver with it

I absolutely agree that Spurs need to act like a big club. We’ve done so with the managerial appointment now. We have the stadium and facilities of a big club. We’re never going to throw money at the situation like a Utd, City or Chelsea, but we still need that ‘big team’ mindset in terms of investment.

Liverpool were a weaker team than Spurs only a few years ago. But they brought in a top manager, identified the weaknesses in their squad, and made significant investment to improve these areas. They’ve since won a CL, PL title etc and are one of Europe’s elite. I doubt they regret the money that was put in.

We never invest at the right time.
Can’t see that changing. Another dry Jan

Fair point.

But I think we will spend a bit of money in the summer. How much and how well that works for us remains to be seen!
