Martial gone

Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano
Anthony Martial from Manchester United to Sevilla, done deal and here we go! Agreement reached tonight between the two clubs. Player has accepted, Sevilla was his priority. #Sevilla

Sevilla will cover his salary until June. Martial will fly to Spain in the next hours.

Martial FC is officially over lads, I really thought he would kick on after 19/20 but it’s just gone downhill for him. I’d wish him luck but he’s left us on a very sour note after refusing to be in the squad.

Just need rid of Bailly, Lindelof, Matic, Lingard, Mata, Pogba, Cavani and Ronaldo now.

Replace them with 2 CM's a CB and a CF and we are good to go.

1 CB
2 CM
1 CF

It's probably already been covered somewhere, but is Martial contracted to 2024?

Weird one letting Martial go on loan considering we needed him at the weekend.

I wonder if it will mean that Amad stays?

Yes he is.

BBC have confirmed that the loan is agreed. There is no loan fee and no option to buy, but they will cover all of his wages. Hopefully he can have a good spell there and we get a decent fee for him in the summer. Unless the incoming manager wants to keep him.

I think 'needed' him might be a tad OTT. We have plenty of options upfront now.

This is about Martial wanting regular starting time anyway. I'm sure we would be happy to keep him on the bench.

It could also have been on Saturday a "Look, we're happy to keep him" kind of thing to force Sevilla to stump up. The bargaining position is weaker if he's left out of every squad I'd say.

I wish him well at Sevilla. Hope he does well there. Whilst I think he probably won't play for United again if he does do well, and we get a manager who does like him, perhaps he will come back with confidence.

With the amount of attackers due to leave he could well find a way back in.

Process. I wouldn't be absolutely against that if he comes back fully committed.

Me neither. But how often during his time at United have you felt that he was fully committed? I have probably been one of his biggest supporters on here, but I think that his time at United is and should be over.

The club also has a clause to unilaterally extend the contract to 2025.

Which we will likely exercise in a couple of week time when he gets a couple of goals and assists.

This is a shame, but if he doesn't want to be here it's the right move.
