and turned out to be absolute dogѕhit
For me two albums stand out:
I bought To the Extreme by Vanilla Ice over Ice Ice Baby and also bought Bigger, Better, Faster, More! by the 4 Non Blondes over What's Up? and both albums turned out to be crap. Like utter disappointment, unlistenable.
What albums did you buy over one song that turned out to be best ignored?
I will accept abuse over my music choices in this article. I was a teenager and didn't know better. My taste in music has drastically changed.
Albums you bought over one song

I used to love the Shine compilation albums. 90s indie was a special time. Gutted I missed the Suede Coming Up tour in the UK where they did the whole album. Not a single bad song on it 🧑🍳

Bought Radiohead’s OK Computer for that one track, ‘Fitter Happier’. The rest is monotonous and disappointing.

You don’t like Paranoid Android? It’s in my top 3 songs ever.

I was joking. OK Computer is my absolute favourite album. Yes, I love Paranoid Android. Karma Police is my favourite though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I love that paranoid Android was 3 different songs the strung together, and it works beautifully.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Karma Police as well really. Apparently, Thom Yorke had said he wanted them to try some songs like Happiness is a Warm Gun (incidentally my favourite Beatles song) which is sort of three or four songs in one, and some of the OK Computer tracks came from that.

Fun fact - in I am the Walrus the ‘egg man’ is Eric Burden from the Animals who was a friend of John Lennon and told the story to John about how he used to like cracking eggs onto women who were giving him head. Hence the ‘egg man’.

House of the Rising Sunny-side Up is apparently about the same fetish.
