On Thursday Wolves welcome Arsenal to Molineux.
After their lacklustre performance against a poor Norwich side on Saturday which saw Wolves dumped out of the FA Cup, there will need to be a marked improvement all round if they want to maintain their current league position.
The January transfer window did nothing to improve the Wolves threadbare squad, with Adama Traore leaving on loan to his home club Barcelona and a 22 year-old Portuguese winger brought in to replace him.
At the same time Arsenal signed 2 players, a 17 year-old defender from West Brom to join their academy and a 23 year-old defender from Colorado Rapids who will remain at rapids on loan for the remainder of the season.
Arsenal’s outgoings numbered 17, mostly players going out on loan. The most notable departures were Ainsley Maitland-Niles who has gone on loan to Roma and Pierre – Emerick Aubameyang, the former club captain having had his contract cancelled due to a disagreement between himself and manager Mikel Arteta. Aubameyang has joined Adama Traore at Barcelona and like Traore, has a agreed to wage cut to complete the deal.
The reverse fixture in December was postponed due to an outbreak of Covid-19 in both camps but on the previous 6 times that the two sides have met in the Premier League, Wolves have won 3, lost 1 and drawn 2
Wolves currently sit in 8th place in the table with 34 points and are unbeaten in their last 5 league games.
Arsenal are in 6th place with 36 points. They have taken just 1 point from league games this year with a loss to Man City followed by a draw with Burnley.
Whatever the result, the game, a genuine '6 pointer' between two fairly evenly matched teams should prove to be an entertaining encounter and the atmosphere in the stadium will be buzzing as it always is under the lights at Molineux,

Ah well, expected nothing this season and that is what will be delivered, not too concerned. This summer is a big one. Will Bruno be helped out or not?

This may be as good as it gets for a few years, we are about to have to rebuild.
Saiss out of contract and probably needs upgrading anyway. Coady isn't getting any younger. Moutinho out of contract and age against him. Neves gonna get attention and may leave. Jimenez clearly not the same player any more. Boly looks like he is done. Donk needs to go.
