New system Vs Old system

Hopefully these 2 games over the weekend will put an end to any nonsense that we usually hear around this time of the semi final format Vs 1st past the post. The quality of rugby league at the pointy end of the season is without doubt the best of the season, whilst the build up in enthusiasm after the first week of the finals until the second week and then to finally win the game that gets you into the grand final is something I haven't experienced for a hell of a long time but it seems like just yesterday in the memory bank.
You don't get that feeling with any other system when you know you have won 3-4 weeks before the end of the season proper.

You lads would know better then I, but I believe this 2011 season was/is the closest season for many a year and whilst it has taken some time the salary cap I feel is responsible for this along with some clubs finally looking outside the main squad of 25 players the clubs are showing more and more interest in the juniors in order to develop them into first grade quality, it's working out how to keep them is the hardest thing but slowly but surely we are seeing the older players getting cut and the young getting looked after.....not before time either with still plenty of work to be done to keep our juniors away from the claws of union...

Cheers

Personally I think the format we have is rubbish. As a Leeds fan it's fantastic that we have made the grand final but there is no way I will consider Leeds to be champions this year even if we win. The superleague champions this year as far as I'm concerned are Warrington - they have been the best team over the course of the season by a long way. Leeds and Saints are playing for a cup that is an extra

you are right of course rhino what needs to happen is to give more publicity to the champions no matter who wins the team do not even get a medal in the old days we still had the top 8 play off but the champs were the ones who won the league

I'm all for that Flash, champions should be the team that finish top after the weekly rounds, then we can have a cup with the top 8 involved

Warringron have been the best team by a long way?
One point if you look, hardly a distance is it?
No matter what you think, Super League is now a tournament which finishes in October. And the winners at OT are the champions. I preferred the top six system, with the winner of the first play off straight to the final. But the people who run the game decided differently.

I know full well that the winner at OT will be crowned superleague champions, I just don't agree with it. If you want it to be all about a knockout competition then don't bother with the league in the first place.

The league is part of the knock out comp as incentives are there for home draws and lifelines, this comp really builds to a great night of cup final rugby.

Warrington can be proud of there achievement and their fans will never forget it but the exceitement of the play offs at the latter stages between the best clubs is superb as a spectator sport, which this is.

I think league leader says it all for me. The semi finals have been sensational, compulsive viewing.!

Each to their own, but for me, if you have a season long league competition the champions are the team who finish at the top, anything after that is just an end of season cup competition. Leeds have been poor for much of the season, have a couple of good games at the end and in with a chance of being called champions - totally wrong as far as I'm concerned.

Every team knows the format of the league at the start, every team's top goal is to win the grand final, league leaguers are recognised with a minor trophy and the easiest route to the final

I understand how you can prefer a league only structure but the is no way you can recognise the league leaders as champions, when every team has been playing by different rules all season, and not the team that at the end of the season achived the number one goal of every team!
