You can marry your 14 year old cousin in certain states in America.

Probably not the best country to choose if you wish to take the moral highground
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like your parents, Boris? Going by the level of your comments, they seem to be first cousins.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if he was a more popular royal like Harry
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think so, but it depends how you handle it.
Hugh Grant admitted his little scandal, with good grace and no excuses.
Nobody thinks any less of him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The difference being, Hugh Grant paid a prostitute for a bl0w j0b - all above board…even if it’s sleazy and desperate of him to do so

Prince Andrew took advantage of his situation to have his seedy way with an underage girl - there’s no defence whatsoever for him as someone who totally abused his position, and abused that girl in the process

Even though she willingly hung around for another 3 years partying and $haggin God knows who else in return for as very luxurious lifestyle

The whole situation stinks of filth and corruption on all levels
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Two points. Hugh Grant wasn't above board, he got arrested.

The girl wasn't underage.

The scandalisé because he abused his position, and felt he was entitled and showed no remorse.

Your last paragraph is because you are anti monarchy, which fair. But it's futile to expect them to be better or worse than anyone else.

Though the Queen probably is.

It's a far less scandal than Savile because of the ages of the victims, and the numbers of them
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OK just a couple of points - and I’m honestly not coming from a place of total understanding so forgive me if I’m incorrect - I’m happy to be put right

1. Yes, Hugh Grant was arrested, you’re correct, but the point I’m making (whether distasteful or not) is that it’s somehow more ‘acceptable’ to pay a prostitute for a ‘service’

In society we know this happens all over the world, and there are many average fellas that have used this, I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s seems to be just the way it is in every society - in some country’s for example - it’s a legal profession.

2. I thought the girl was underage - wasn’t she 17, which in the USA is a minor - either way, for a guy in his 40’s to be having $ex with a 17 year old, seems pretty wrong

3. I’m not anti monarchy in the slightest - I’m very pro the monarchy and think the Queen’s an amazing human being - I just don’t respect those in the Royal Family that sponge of their position and show nothing but contempt form the ‘common person’ the likes of Prince Andrew have been utterly disgraceful for someone in his position and to think he is above reproach is just appalling - Prince Harry is another one who I think is above his station - where does he come off lecturing us on how to live when he so hypocritically lives his lavish lifestyle - an absolute plonker

4. Savile was just wrong on ALL accounts - abusing 7/8 years olds - no excuse or defence whatsoever

----------------------------------------------------------------------
All fair points. All I'm saying about Hugh Grant is that he handled it so much better.

Prince Andrew seems to think he's entitled to what he wants. I've a real distaste for him. To go on television saying he didn't know her, and then paying up presents him as thr rat he is.

Yep, you’re totally correct, out of all the Royals, I dislike and distrust him the most…with Harry, not far behind, but for different reasons

I also wonder what Eugenie and Beatrice think, especially as they know they have never been to Pizza Express in Woking

Their silence sums up the whole sordid circus

And at least Hugh Grant has worked for the privileges he has

What I think sticks in the throat of most is that Prince Andrew has had nothing but privileges handed to him on a plate all his life, he’s had wealth and lifestyle to excess - more than we could ever even dream about

And yet, he’s treated us all with such contempt and arrogance, not even having the decency to own up to his wrongs when he’s been called out

It’s arrogance beyond measure - that’s why I have no sympathy for him

And to add insult to injury, his suggestion of working and helping organisations that work with those abused in the $ex Trafficking trade, makes his whole charade even more futile and hypocritical

He should refused and banned from ever having anything to do with such organisations - I mean would you allow a paedophile out on remand apply for a job with the NSPCC?

Every man and his dog knew Andrew was guilty. Settling out of court is confirmation of his sordid, dark, sleazy secrets. No longer a secret now!

History will tell you past royals were embroiled in scandals far worse. What annoys people is his actions taints the clean image of our Queen and the high regard she's held in by the country. In reality, even Andrew's shenanigans would not turn the country against the Queen or the monarchy!

No one would give two hoots if he was someone else's son, especially a non royal.

The other factor that sits uncomfortably is the public purse has generated his wealth, that public money is what was used to pay off his victim!
