Bolton Wanderers v AFC Wimbledon

The unbeaten run is over but the task remains the same. With 14 games left and 2 more games played to try and make up 8 points and goal difference to finish the season in the top 6. 2 back to back home games and anything less than 2 wins won't do. First up AFC Wimbledon today. Going to be a battle against a side 1 point above the relegation zone fighting for points to stay up. Never the easiest of games. The newly formed AFC Wimbledon have never beaten Bolton. 5 games between the clubs, 1 Bolton win and 4 draws. The games at the unibol finished 1-1 in 2017 and 2-2 in 2019. Team news. Bolton still without Lee, Kachunga, Isgrove, Tutte, Sheehan. Jones, Morley, Afolayan and Charles likely to return after sitting out the defeat at Burton.

I was a little disappointed with the Wimbledon managers comments after the game. He implied that it was more about his team not performing well than the quality of our team. he reckoned that our goals were soft goals.

The goals looked mighty fine to me so I think it was more a case of sour grapes.

Anyway, we will continue with the task of trying to secure a win and three points on Tuesday. The play-offs are achievable but we have some hard games to come.

Hopefully onwards and upwards.

Kieran Lee to have an op on his heel this week expected to be out 4/5 weeks so not season ending. I was happy with our midfield yesterday. Dempsey had his best game and looks far more comfortable in a deep midfield position than a 10. Morley ran the game. Prefer dapo as a 10 with sadlier as back up. Up top Charles with Bodvarsson or Bakayoko and Kachunga coming back soon we have some real quality and options in midfield and attack now.

Also I thought thomason looked refreshed. Only on 10 minutes or so but always wanted the ball. All looking good.

I hope the refunds catch on.

I'm not pleased that Kieran is to have an op, I would much prefer that it wasn't necessary. However, I am pleased that it's being sorted now and not later.

Nothing good can come from postponing the inevitable and although he may have been willing to soldier on, it's the right decision to get it sorted now.

Hopefully, he will play again this season. He's a good player and had we not signed the players that we have, it could have been a disaster.

As for Wimbledon, it is what it is. any team can have a bad game but they aren't where they are in the league for no good reason.

The reference about the young team is not an argument that holds any credence with me as our team is quite young.

If he wants to compare ages, I would say that there may not be much difference between the two teams that were on the field on Saturday.

I see the supercomputer has us finishing in tenth place. I would have taken that a couple of months ago but I think that we will finish high than that. A top-six finish will do nicely. Thank you.

Another game tonight at home to Lincoln City. Another win tonight would put us on 51 points and hopefully get us that little bit nearer to a play-off place depending on results elsewhere.

We have the best form in the division at the moment so we need those above us to drop points and us to keep collecting three points for a win.

After tonight we have two away games followed by two home games. Saturday's game will be a testing game away to MK Dons who at present, sit third in the table. The following Saturday we play Gillingham away who are currently third from bottom.

The Tuesday after the Gillingham game we play Morecambe at home. That may prove to be an interesting fixture after our recent game at their ground. Also to add a little more spice to the fixture, the Morecambe manager has been given permission to speak to St. Mirran from the Scottish Premier League as they look for a new manager.

The results of the next five games could define our season. Let's hope that our form continues and we can reach the playoffs. There is no doubt that the game against MK Dons will be the hardest game of the five.

The last of the 4 Tuesday games on the trot which will have become a bit wearisome for the players plus with the really bad weather the fans. The standard of football though is so good I'm really looking forward to the game but not the midweek trek to the unibol so much so I have changed my routine in travelling from work later and having something to eat first rather than risk the vaguearies of the m60 and rushing around. Seemed to work last time.

The snacks have arrived for later.
I've sent a fax to the Kremlin requesting they hold off for a few hours tonight to avoid any iFollow interference.
Time to rest up, it's a long late night tonight.
