GK problem

Anyone else think that Meslier is not the answer. He has been very poor of late .Admittedly he has poor cover in front of him but he has been at fault for some goals .I’m thinking of the Newcastle one especially and there have been others .He probably has a lot of potential but he needs to be taken out of the firing line at the moment to regain some confidence.Unfortunately there is no one to replace him abig mistake not signing a gk and others in January. In my opinion a good gk is the most important player in any team .That’s why Cloughie signed Shilton all those years ago. Also I think it’s sad that some people think that losing 4to 2.was a good result .

Meslier is 2nd in the most saves table. Easily the top keeper prodigy in English football rn
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also 2nd in goals conceded.
He will be a top, top keeper in a few years.
Right now he needs work on distribution, corners (6’-6” he should be getting that ball before McGuire), communication (he’s a very quiet keeper, did he even give Llorente a shout, and if he did he should’ve bollocked the cr@p out of him 😂)

Jonty are you joking you said 4to 2 was a better result than you expected. That to my mind means you were satisfied with the result. Also I know Meslier has made some good saves but that’s what he is supposed to do.

I said I expected 4-0, I never said 4-2 was a good result, despite what it means to your mind.

Donn, he's very young. He's was not at his best today but has played well enough during the year to not be given up on.

You obviously have added not being able to read to your repertoire!

Not Jonty or anyone else said 4-2 was a good result.

This shouldn't need saying but ... Meslier is a great young prospect who has really stepped up to the plate and who is currently on the radar of PSG, etc. There is room for improvement but he's saved our asses on any number of occasions. Although he is clearly Leeds through and through, I reckon we'll be lucky to hold onto him during the summer.

The defensive problems we have been having relate principally to Phillips's long absence - nobody has been able to break up opposition play in front of the back line, ease the high press and stop any rampaging forward runs by opposition centre-backs so well. That's not surprising because he too is a top top player - and another who may move on in the summer.

It's true that Llorente deserved to get substituted but nobody has been really on it, consistently, throughout the whole season - it's all been hot and cold or out injured. We've seen flashes and bursts of potential, twenty minutes here, a half there. All the players have had good and bad games.

It's no use trying to point the finger at individuals: the club has entered a transition period, and it could go either way. Just got to keep hoping it'll all work out alright...

"Also I know Meslier has made some good saves but that’s what he is supposed to do."

So that means that he's doing his job, but it should be said he's being over worked!..

If he was getting the backup that he should be, the players in front of him would be stopping a lot of shots coming in, a keeper can only do so much, his defence is there to help him out!..

As for goals conceded, Bielsa's way is the fault, his teams have always conceded but he always counts on out scoring his opponent!..

But like Donny knows because others have said often enough, without Phillips we're not breaking the game up right, and without Bamford there isn't enough goals, but that part of the game has nothing to do with Meslier!..

It all boils down to a team effort of 11 players!..

Oh, and my take on the OP … no, the GK isn’t our problem. We’ve had the spine removed from our team in Coops, Kalvin and Paddy. Any team would suffer from a loss like that.

Steroos17 says he will be a top player in a few years .It’s now we need a better keeper not in a few years .

Got to wonder why any person who claims to be a Leeds fan would refer to that wretch Brian Clough as "Cloughie". Beggars belief.

Cloughie also admitted in later life in a tv interview that the whole nonsense with our beloved team was his biggest regret and he missed a massive opportunity.

Yes Brian Clough was a love him or hate him character but he was and is a true colossus of the British Game also like Sir Don he along with Taylor took a club(s) with no real history and gave them lasting heritage.

Always felt those Forest European Cups could and maybe should have been ours.
