Hypocrisy?

Caveat: it is absolutely the right thing for football to be speaking out in support of Ukraine and moving the CL final, Fifa potentially banning Russia from the world cup etc.

The BLM boo boys tried to excuse their behaviour and hide their racism under the “keep politics out of football" excuse. Similarly, I believe it was Celtic who were fined because their fans were waving Palestine flags at one of their matches.

So question is now: What happened to keeping politics out football?

In my humble opinion it is absolutely right to use whatever platform you have to raise awareness and speak up for justice!

Tbh the fact that it's a white European nation being attacked does seem to make a difference.

People wanting Russian athletes banned and Roman to give up Chelsea etc. The US waged war in Iraq for almost 9 years and nobody wanted US athletes banned from anything or said the Glazers and the Kroenkes should give up their stake in Utd/Arsenal.

Oh shut up you miserable POS. The west’s attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan were completely provoked.

Probably because one is a war. And the other was something invented in the states and for some reason made its way over here despite us not being the states and having nothing in the way of their history of racism.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have our own history of racism.

Saudi Arabia dropped more bombs in Yemen over weekend and they actually own Newcastle but we don't see Newcastle owners hand stewardship to Micky Quinn do we.

Did they?

Link please?

I genuinely can not believe you are doing this. It takes one sick individual to play a game of one-upmanship when it comes to the banter (lighthearted banter) that football should be.

What has he done?

I find it astonishing that Russia are being rightfully banned from most sporting events now, Russian sponsorships are being thrown out, yet an English Premiership club is still allowed to function with a Russian owner funding them.

Surely clubs should now be refusing to play against any Abramovich team for the foresseable future, until he truely does relinquish his ownship of that said club.

Shamefully the Prem bosses need to also take a hard look at themselves for allowing Saudi backers to also infiltrate the Prem as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a load of tribal bitter nonsence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually he is not pal. Every cup Chelsea has picked up has his blood money on it. We all know he is a mate of Putin, as is every Russian Billionaire, or they wouldn't be billionaires, and that his money has been generated via a country that has no qualms bombing innocent people.

I get football can sometimes take over too much of a fan's life ( and logical thinking ) but come on, you must have even a small appreciation that being owned and 100% financed by a Russian close enough to their regime, can't be good.

Blood Money?

This is exactly the bitter tribalism tainting this site and being constantly laid at Chelsea fans door. Disgraceful..

Spurs fans, to try and placate the fact that they have had no success switch to tribalism to vent their frustration at he London club that has enjoyed constant success for the past 25 years.

Roman's association with Putin is well known as is the history of the Olifarchs. But there are varying levels of Oligarch and no one on this forum knows the extent of the raltionship berween Purin and Roman.

What we do know is that as yet he has not been sanctioned, even though other oligarhcs have been..

We have never seen him kick a football with Putin unlike Infantino that is for sure.

We know he is committed to anti semitism and we know he is Jewish and we now that Ukrane has a large jewish community. I think it is therefore unlikely he is supportive of Putin's war on Ukraine, and he is probably smart enough to realise that if he has anyc chanve to stop it he does do in a clandestine manner. Publically criticising Puting is not going to make a ny difference, but lets hope that some strategic plotting going on behind the scnes that might just cause a tyrant to fall.
