Todays observations

1. That was a hell of a win because we weren't very good and West Ham probably should have scored 3, so to grind it out and come away with the win is brilliant. Some of the last ditch tackles, blocks and clearances off the line show how committed this group is and how hungry they are that they'll chase down seemingly lost causes.

2. Salah was a bit greedy today, seemed to be a bit preoccupied with keeping his goalscoring record against west ham up rather than the win itself. But it didn't cost us so no big deal.

3. Mane is our best central option. He has a goalscoring and pace threat that Firmino no longer presents and his link up and passing ability is better than Jota there. He dropped deep off the centre halves really nicely today too. I'd be very interested to see Diaz there once he's up to speed, but for now Mane should play the central striking role for the rest of the season.

4. Luis Diaz. Boy he's fun to watch, he held the width really well in the second half to stretch the play but when he did come centrally he was a threat. If Salah had controlled the little ball inside to him late on then that would have been a hell of an assist.

5. Antonio got far too much joy in the air against VVD and Konate today, and that could be something other teams look to exploit if they have a similar physical presence up front.

6. We missed Thiago. His ability to control a game is really obvious when he's not there, not sure how long his injury is but hopefully not for too much more.

Now we just hope United can give City some real problems tomorrow.

I thought VVD won plenty in the air against Antonio, it was those through balls and over the top that I thought he struggled with.

Shame if Jota stops getting games. Great player and a FL beast this season as he's undervalued. Guess if Diaz is going to play pretty much every game then he'll get swapped in for 8m

Jota will still get starts ahead of Diaz or Mane. It's 2 games a week now almost til end of season so all 5 forwards will be rotated in and out.

Its great we have:

Jota
Mane
Salah
Diaz
Firmino
Origi

They will be rotated and they have to be. Its why we are in all competitions and i believe its why we will win the league. City have no answer if kdb, sterling or mahrez are missing....we have a massive forward advantage.

Just to counter some thing here.

Point 1 reads like West ham had all the chances, they did not. We should have had a hat full of goals yesterday.

On Jota then.... he was injured come on guys he is back on bench after a knock.

Firmino & Matip should be ok for Milan, Bobby could well be back for Brighton

I think you will find Bobby is in full training to-day.

A good striker finishes those two chances they had. The first one in the first half wasn't offside and Lanzini should have done better for their second chance. Salah had one 1v1 with the goalkeeper but after that we didn't create clear cut chances.
