It ain’t over…

Let me say right away that the moment Stuey missed that chance against Spurs, I knew that Bielsa’s time was over. The one player who had grown into a colossus under his tutelage was finally out of ideas and belief. There is no way that Bielsa would keep us up. Radz had to make a decision fast . It was ugly, but LUFC is his business. What would you have done if you were in his position?
We had an ok start under JM but all our worst fears were realised against Villa. It was frightened, gutless football. There were no leaders on the pitch and we capitulated against a solid Villa team.
Some home truths arrived like a pile-up on the M62. Our young players are over-hyped, our old hands have run out of steam, our new players are on their phones to their agents checking out their exit clauses, Radz doesn’t have a clue and Orta is living off the fruit of one good decision in a raft of financial disasters.
The last two results were poor, but the ones that matter most are still to come. Three wins and a draw from Norwich, Watford, Southampton and Brentford should be enough in any event. So let’s focus on what’s ahead. JM has had two games to come to terms with the Premier League. It’s not enough, but it’s all he gets. He comes across well, maybe too well, but he’s showing signs of the shock of the job he has landed. Let’s allow him to draw breath before we close the page on his career with us. Let’s see what Radz and Orta have seen in him and give him the chance to show his worth. Bear in mind that we probably have the easiest run in; Burnley and Everton are going to have the fixture pile-up from hell after the international break. There are thirty points to play for. Three points against Norwich would be a great place to start.

Good points well made. We need all the positivity we can get right now so cheers for the optimism. Three points from Norwich and we’re in with a shout so let’s get behind the lads.

I've spent most of this season fearing the worst.
And not enjoying the moment. I resigned myself to
us being relegated. Wish I hadn't. I'm the loser in
this. Truth is we have not been relegated. As you
say we have games left. We can do it. And I'm
stopping my negativity.

I've also reminded myself that under a legend and
integrity loaded human (MB) this squad has given
us three incredible years. Incredible. They deserve
everyone's support. Even negative types like me.

In a way, the season's fight begins tomorrow. MOT.

Some good points ATBR.

‘There is no way that Bielsa would keep us up’ - l disagree, but we’ll never know. Now that Burnley have played 26, we do know for fact that Bielsa left us 2 points above the drop.

I keep thinking about Bielsa’s last match when he basically said changing tactics wouldn’t work…can only hope he’s wrong.

On the bright side…10 games left, couldn’t hope for a better game coming up than Norwich.

Very good article.

Fans use the phrase "must win game" far too often. However I do believe that the description genuinely does apply to tomorrow's game.

Good post. Think we'll win big tomorrow...I can feel it. It will be the start of a good run. You heard it here first. If we can't beat the Canaries, we deserve to go own.

I’d say it’s more a ‘must not lose’…could be a valuable point.

Sadly I don't think a point would be valuable enough. I can't see us getting anything out of Wolves, Chelsea, Man City or Arsenal. That leaves Norwich and 5 other difficult but not impossible fixtures to get the dozen or so points we need.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow. We need a serious improvement, a confidence boost and better luck with injuries.
