Absolutely immense today against Sevilla. I know people think he’s overpriced but the kind of energy and smarts he brings to the midfield is invaluable and if we have any chance to get him in the next transfer window we really need to do it.
There’s one particular piece of play which has been repeated ad infinitum this season but on this occasion it was against Atletico. Maguire had the ball, didn’t really have a pass on and turned a couple of times before passing back to DDG who shanked it to an Atletico player. Rice is exactly what we need in those situations. He is always there ready for a pass from the defence and he can take that ball and surge forward and stop us faffing around at the back before getting it out to the wings and/or the attack.
We lack that kind of player. For about 6 months it was Matic but Rice is a younger and better version of that. Richard Arnold, sign him up.

From what I'm reading and hearing Erik Ten Hag would be incredibly popular appointment. That doesn't mean he's going to succeed though of course.
Pep and Klopp are pretty much out there on their own. Tuchel and Nagelsmann and 1 or 2 others not too far behind.
We've allowed our two biggest rivals to get really strong and appoint the two best coaches in world football arguably. The Glazer legacy right there.

I understand people like Ten Hag because in theory the football would be more entertaining and after 9 lean years perhaps that’s the most important thing for some people and I promise I won’t be annoyed if we hire him like I was with Ole.
But I do think Poch is the safer pair of hands as he knows the PL and has shown he can turn a side like spurs into one of the best teams in Europe. People miss the point talking about trophies at Spurs. Him getting them regularly into the top 4 and to a CL final was a trophy of sorts.
Even if he never won anything with us but got us to a CL final and turned us into a side that was regularly competing with the best sides in Europe that would surely be a massive improvement to what we’ve had under previous managers.
One thing is for sure, if it is Ten Hag vs Poch at least the two options at least show the club are finally looking at decent options
