Saturdays B Game

Decent 10k or so at Ibrox for the B team game on Saturday. Lovely day for it in the sunshine and great to see the kids perform on that pitch rather than the tattie field that Dumbarton has become.

Anyone else go/watch it on RTV?

Rangers were obviously terrific from the off and had killed the game by about 20-25 minutes when Tony Weston scored the third.

I thought Rangers had a clutch of real stand out performers who looked a level above the Celtic lads on the day. The league positions show Celtic are better than they showed on Saturday so I wont be too harsh.

In terms of the Gers Leon King, Charlie McCann and of course Mr Lowry all showed why they have been in and around the first team. Celtic couldnt lay a glove on those three in particular.

Ross McCausland also tortured that poor LB for Celtic (again) from the off. The pace at which he can carry the ball is frightening and he offers a genuine threat whenever he gets in the final third. He has a wee chance.

Big shout out to Murray Miller who was named man of the match. Tireless shift, won every 50/50 and rarely wasted a pass. He had probably the best game I have seen him play and he has set the bar for his future performances.

The wee Chris Burke lookalike for Celtic was arguably their best player. He tried and was willing to take responsibility whilst others seemed to just freeze.

Dembele was worryingly poor from a Celtic point of view. He seems to be a nice enough mover with the ball but he had no real end product. He showed a real lack of desire to have a proper impact on the game. It all seemed like too much effort to him.

Oh and as well as the LB, the Celtic goalie also looked well out of his depth at that level.

Was it Bain or Barkas?

Watched it on RTV. Lowry is the stand out and good enough in my view to be a first team player next season. He has something you can't teach. People talk about his development points but should focus on what he brings. The development points you see could be applied to an Aribo Hagi or Rogic and it doesn't prevent them from being game changers. Top talent

Lowry’s goal was a great strike.

Should be pieing Simpson in summer, Diallo off and Davis would leave/retire you’d imagine. King, McCann and Lowry in to replace. Lowry and King should be ahead of two now anyway.

I think replacing Davis and Arfield with Lowry and McCann would be a decent move for next season.

King I would possibly put on loan because he is a CB and not long turned 18. It would be a huge ask for a kid that age to establish themselves in the Rangers first team. A season at another Prem club would maybe help his development more in the way a season at Killie helped Ajer.

Only remembered it was on when we passed Ibrox coming home from Troon and wondered why the polis…

Correct me if I’m wrong but was it not an older rangers team? Meh whatever, just a bit of development for them all.

Was there an away support?

I am not sure the ages of the celtic players but the majority of the Rangers players are still 18.

I know at the outset of the Lowland League Rangers felt the team they were putting in was younger than the celtic group but I am not sure how that has panned out over the season.

The Lowland League is U19 for the OF with I think one u20 allowed (Murray Miller for Rangers at the weekend is a year older).

I think Charlie McCann and Kyle McClelland have both turned 19 already but the majority of the Rangers team are still 18 and guys like Leon King only just turned 18 a couple of months ago.

Dembele is the only Celtic player i know about - someone mentioned to me at the weekend he is already 19. Still looks about 15 though!

Celtic humbled.

Rangers barely needed to get out of first gear.

I never seen it.
