It's been really quiet on these boards for some days now probably because of the international break but more likely down to Quantuma's lack of communication which is really worrying.
Anyway, I'm going to throw this out: - excluding anyone who has played for DCFC, who is the best player you have ever seen, live in any game?
I'm going for George Best. I saw him a few times when I was at Manchester Uni. Opponents were always reduced to blatant kicking and bruising tactics in vain attempts to stop him. He had everything. Best's heyday was when refs and rules did little to protect. The lad was a football genius but a flawed genius which in turn leads to another point.
It is tragically true that many of the most talented players had flawed characters in other respects, probably due to fame and fortune at too young an age and often, though not always, down to drink, drugs and/or gambling. Think Best, Gascoigne, Greaves, Maradonna, Rooney. Other great players who had poor reputations for various reasons - Marsh, Bowles, Currie, Colleymore, Burns. Even the great Charlie George had a bad reputation but I think that was wrong. Dave Mackay always said he was as good as gold while with Derby.
There will be lots more who I can't think of right now so it will be good to hear from you with your nominations!
It's all gone quiet over there

Best was magic, Bobby Charlton was fantastic, but one player I liked was Tony Green when he played for Blackpool. Pity he got a bad injury.

Stan Collymore - the most complete striker I’ve seen live - he had everything, pace, strength, balance, and could score with both feet
Pity, he didn’t fulfil his potential

Big Iain Dowie playing for Northern Ireland. As graceful on the pitch as he was a total hunk off it

To be fair, Best was the best player for every club he played for.
