Jamie Jackson is reporting that Steve McClaren is under consideration to be Ten Hag’s number two at United. Apparently back in 2008 Ten Hag was McClaren’s number two at Twente so would be seen as a role reversal.
In theory it would be a fairly logical appointment. McClaren knows the club well but has also worked with Ten Hag before and while I haven’t followed his career much since the England days I’m sure his knowledge of the game remains strong and if ETH okays it I can see a dynamic relationship forming at a coaching level, especially if Van Persie joins the team too.
Any McClaraholics out there?

Now I'm trying to imagine Steve McClaren saying 'Missh Moneypenny' with that faux-Dutch intonation.

You'll never be able to unsee that

Brian Kidd was older than Pep and had more history with the club.

Yeah I'm not really sure what being older and having closer connections to the club even means? Having a connection to the club is a good thing isn't it?

Return of Stevie Mac? Treble loading.....🤣
But in all seriousness as long as he is fine with that setup we could do a lot lot worse. Would actually make far more sense than having recently retired players with little no coaching experience.

Am actual coach with good experience wouldn't be a bad thing! We do need a lot to go for us to get back up there.
Talking of that (and sorry that it's about Liverpool) but I thought this article was interesting earlier. Little things making a difference https://www.givemesport.com/87991897-liverpool-received-help-from-benfica-before-2019-champions-league-final-win

I'd rather we brought in a former coach who's achieved something as a coach than a former player being brought in just because they're a former player. Whether he's still capable at the highest level is certainly a valid question though.

I think it's a great idea ànd have suggested it before.
We played some of our best football under him including 1999.
He managed Middlesbrough after, got them into Europe and won them there one and only trophy since before the war I think.
I'm not looking anything up, but think he won two Dutch titles.
He's innovative, forward thinking.
Get him in.

One Dutch title which was literally bought. Twente was punished for the dodgy funds which ruined them.
