Debate time

With a 2 week break before our next match, what better time to debate what we expect during the summer and for the rest of this season.

There are many who think we should revert to a back 4 and dispense with a system that has got us thus far in our effort to retain and improve our Premiership status. Interesting to read from those who go for this set up and what players can perform there.

I'll start off with my opinions and it's only opinions.

A back 3 has served us well, but if we do go for a back four then we need a recognized CB for next season. We have Boly, Hoever, Coady, Kilman, Saiss and Mosquera for the rest of this season. Semedo, Marcal, Jonny and Ait-Nouri are better as wing backs.

Saiss and Marcal are out of contract and may well leave.

I seriously think Neves will be gone and I hope we get a fee close to 100m for him. That way we can try and buy a decent attacking midfield player, or two.

I would hope that we try and retain the services of Moutinho and Saiss for one more year, to help through, what I believe will be a drastic reorganization this summer.

Up front we have Jimenez, Silva, Podence, Neto, Trincao and Hwang. If we play with a 4-4-2, who's left out? A 4-3-3 in my mind would dispense with wing backs. If we lose both Neves and Moutinho, that leaves a huge gap to fill in midfield and would be the number one position to strengthen.

Rumors aplenty about Neves, Coady and even Kilman moving on and a few names mentioned coming in to bolster the squad.

Bruno has done well with the players he inherited and to me deserves a lot of credit for getting us up to 8th spot. I guess a lot will depend on whether we grab a European spot for next season and whether we can attract the kind of players needed to hopefully challenge for a higher finish next season.

Of course heads drop, but you don't just stop playing. It's called frustration. United are playing for a European spot, so they aren't going to just give up.

As for our "bomb squad". The only player I read that gave up was Doyle. What you're suggesting is that the whole United team just gave up. Tell that to the young lad who came on as a sub. He put himself about so much, he got himself booked.

Doyle gave up? He was one of the few that didn't

Sunny when you can be bothered to engage in a proper debate I'll be more than happy to partake

I didn't say the whole side went missing but if your supposed leaders can't be bothered to lead from the front then what example does that show?

Regards our bomb squad well your Doyle comment sums up your knowledge on subject

So the debate has inevitably got to the point where we're all actually agreeing that United were shlt but still managing to argue about in precisely what way they were shlt. Standard.

Good win for arsenal tonight, 8 points clear of us now and same games played. Got to say that any slim chance we had of catching them is just about extinguished now. Have to say as well that Newcastle have really turned things around, just a point behind Leicester now, would never have predicted that in January even with the Saudi billions.

Arsenal were never on the table in the real world to be honest. West Ham the ones we could genuinely have a chance of catching given their distraction.

Agree that Arsenal are out of our reach now so now we need to become Arsenal supporters. Their next two games are against Man Utd and West Ham and they’d be doing us a great favour by winning those
