Midfield

Just watched highlights of a memorable United v Chelsea match from the 2000-2001 season.
I know , I know ... but this current United team are forcing some of us to travel back in time just to relive some happy moments as United fans.
Anyways , our midfield that day was Keane , Scholes , Giggs and Beckham.
Those were the days indeed. A whole team of winners. Guys who played with so much passion and love for Manchester United and who were absolutely ruthless with how they crushed and destroyed literally everybody else in this country every single week.

How the mighty have fallen

Now we have to suffer with Pogba strolling around the pitch in his weekly testimonials , Bruno always blaming others after he fecks up , Fred with his hand up constantly apologizing for giving the ball away , Mctominay playing hide and seek on a football pitch and the likes of Sancho and Rashford who are just not typical United wingers. I mean I challenge anyone on here to remember even one time Jadon Sancho put in a cross into the box this whole season.
Let's hope Ten Hag will absolutely clean house when he comes in. Many of these players in our first team should be nowhere near Old Trafford next season.

Bit harsh on Sancho seeing as though that's just how the role as a winger has evolved over the years. Don't get me wrong, I think he's been pretty 5hit this season but to use his lack of crosses as a measure of how good he has been isn't really fair.

A Becks type winger wouldn't really be that effective in the modern game seeing as though strikers tend to be 5ft tall nowadays and wingers are expected to cut inside with pace to support the lone striker.

Sancho can do a lot more, they all can but he's been decent in some games. There's huge potential there.

The more games we lose the more dejected the players get. It's not a happy camp at the moment.

Need the season to end, get ETH in, get some new players and we start again next season. I'm expecting more from Sancho under ETH.

Didn't say it was, it was a brilliant bit of quick thinking and improvisation.

Technically, yes, his potential is huge.

My concern with him is he seems to lack character and desire. He's quiet as a mouse on the pitch and literally disappears when the going gets tough. God I miss a young Rooney.

He flourished in a winning Dortmund side, that's probably the key difference, he goes into hiding when the chips are down.

What he's experiencing at Utd is probably a first but it's a test of character which many, including Jadon, have failed this season.

Would he play with more personality if the camp was happy, if he was happy and was able to form an understanding on the pitch with someone? Quite possibly, we just don't know.
