No the point is they don't so any slight advantage will help. Liverpool are a great example as loads of our corners hit the first man and that seems shocking for this quality of player but then we have some of the best returns from corners. We are playing on the edges where it will mostly be crap but sometimes be perfect.

Doesn't look like it..... delivery from corners seems pretty poor in general to me

Ironic that you choose that analogy when the whole point is to put curve on the path of the ball I.e. the opposite of a laser light which will only go dead straight unless you pass it through a liquid or strong magnetic field or similar.

impossible to compare

I reckon it's as much as psychological thing about believing they've gained an advantage. Some smug wee nyaff thinking he's got away with robbery by placing a ball 3mm over a line of paint. Like the celebratory shin-grab they do when they get away with "anticipating the contact".

It gives a slightly better angle for their run up and delivery. Fine margins but the sort of thing teams look at these days

Should just change the rules so that you're allowed to pull the corner flag out. Would stop this nonsense with the ball rarely being in the quadrant.

Could do with telling our coaching staff given our track record from corners the past few seasons

Tbf we have been improving this season, but nothing more frustrating than seeing a corner hit the first man or end up floated all lofty to the back post with the keeper easily plucking it out the air.

much harder to score from corners, the analysis that has gone into defending them is much better than ever before. the amount of corners scored now has dropped right off.

people complain that the zonal/man marking hybrid doesnt work , just pick up your man is nonsense. yes it can look terrible when you lose a goal when zonal marking and the usual excuse is that if they man mark there he doesnt score. yes thats prob true but if they man mark the stats show they will conceded less.

thats the facts, teams are far better are defending corners than they once were
