Conte and the world go on about our system needing wingbacks. Ironically this shows a one dimensional strategy which all opposition managers will take note of.
I've never heard of other teams moan or focus on wingbacks or one part of a team as much as we do.
For me the real issue is not having midfield options to wrestle a match away from opposition. We can't always rely on sitting back.
We desperately need two more midfielders that Conte trusts. If we have more of the ball then we pin back opposition which allows wing backs to play as wingers.
If we are getting dominated then no wingback is going to abandon their defensive duties and stay high and wide as the heat map against Brighton illustrated.
Our wingbacks aren't brilliant nor do they have a trick in them but most wingbacks don't..its wingers that do this. What they need is space to run into or good pass and movement for one-twos and for this we need to dominate the ball and the pitch. If we are getting overrun then Conte needs to bring on an extra CM.
Conte Seems reluctant to play Winks in 352 but confident to play Winks in a 343. This i really don't understand as Winks has never turned a match around by replacing a CM in a pivot.
Lets hope we get these CMs in Summer because we will need them if or when we play 2 games a week.
We need more midfielders

Lo Celso got a standing ovation last night. What What big shame. I think he could have been useful this season in a 352. I would pick him ahead of Winks.
Lo Celso Bentancur Hojbjerg would be a decent mid 3 to control games.

Massive shame about GLC. He seems to be fit all the time for them as well.
Maybe the prem was not for just not for him?

What do you make of Bentancur?. To me he doesn’t do enough. Too many sideway passes and very similar to Hojberg.

2. Defence
3. Keep Conte
4. Keep Kane
Everything else can wait.
In every game we don't win, it is not because our defense is rubbish. It is because we have no ability to control possession, control the pace of the game, and therefore to control of the direction of the game.
Every top team controls ( and therefore wins ) games primarily through controlling the midfield ( or engine room )
Yes our defense could be better, but it is still in the top 6 in the PL, and losses us games less and less since Romero came in on a regular basis.
But, look at our midfield. We must be the only "competing" PL team that only has DMF players and no attacking / flair MF player. Net result, we constantly give up possession and therefore the flow /direction of games.

Perhaps but I think we would he crazy not to give him another go.
If the Prem doesn't suit him then we can use him for our CL games (fingers crossed) that competition seems to suit him just fine.

Again, a slight over reaction to the BHA defeat. We do not "constantly give away possession". We did vs BHA, agreed but in many of the previous games we have started to control games far more.
Even in defeat at United we had 57% possession, 20% more passes than them and 89% accuracy.
The CM needs reinforcing I agree and it is the lack of options that cripples us so on a day when things are not working, like Saturday, the back up is Winks & Skipp. Throw an Eriksen in there and it looks different. SO i'd say an area that certainly needs reinforcement but it is not the massive central issue holding us back.
GLC should not come back to us. If his stock is high in Spain, then sell him while we can get some value. We have seen from the likes of him and Gil and Lukaku that some players flourish more in other leagues, and I'd put GLC in that group. £25-30m and we should rip their arms off!

Happy with Bentancur,Skipp & Holjberg... but we need to bring in another CM... & get rid of Winks...
We need to bring in a RWB & LWB also...
