You came 6th in the PL that season. Winning the European cup that year was a total fluke. It was like Leicester winning the league. Things like that only happen every 50-100yrs.

Your current team however are rightfully strong contenders.

You can't fluke a CL win. We beat Juve Chelsea and Milan. Also made the final again two years later.

Of course you can. Both Chelsea and Man United stole final wins against Bayern, after getting comprehensively outplayed over 90 minutes.

Surely Gerrard’s biggest contribution was the little known story of him getting both Hicks & Gillette by the throat and insisting they both leave or he would personally “sort them out”
