Lingard

Was Ralf wrong not to get him on the pitch for a send off?

He’s been at the club for 20 years and scored a cup final winner.

There’s gonna be a lot of rubbish out there. Let’s just wait til X-Hag arrives. But I don’t see Jessie staying.
He was flying with West Ham. Newcastle would take him in a heartbeat. Fly son fly, get yerself into the WC team, cos I’d imagine Rashford will play more than him if he stayed.
We know he loves UTD, but the time has come.

Nobody saw this season coming last August. That includes Ronaldo. And as it happens without Ronny's goals, with all the other things you mention, it could have been even worse.

….

I, for one, didn’t see us being this bad but I did see the cons of signing Ronaldo.

Our fans have already forgot just how bad Ronaldo was from December to whenever he got the three against Spurs.

This.

We got the clichéd “if he gets service he’s still deadly”. Ignoring the fact that he had missed numerous good chances.

Ronaldo in current form is still a top player but at his age there are serious doubts it’s sustainable.

Of course the questions were valid. And just cos he’s the goat, people shouldn’t be dismissed as being disrespectful towards him for questioning it. He’s 37 ffs.
Zlatan another anomaly. But it looked like he was being made the scapegoat, when all around him were getting away with murder.
Rashford-Bruno-Martial-Maguire-Shaw-AWB-Cavani-Sancho- all let us down this season, there’s no way I’m ever gonna blame Ronaldo, for anything.
We shouldn’t have been in this position to rely on him.

He's also not a player needed to build on. He gets the numbers but he wasn't ever likely to help the play improve which was what so many hoped we would build on from last season. But this for me was always Ole's problem, he never really had a way he wanted us to play that we could build on which allowed us to out play opponents and be a top team.

My main concern was always that he would hinder Greenwood's progress, guess I didn't need to worry about that one.

Exactly.

Without Ronny scoring he's a bit of a waste of space. And he was in that dry run he had from Christmas until Spurs which is one reason why we don't have CL next season.

On last night's game I don't think there is any coincidence in the improved work rate effort and togetherness which was shown all over the pitch and the fact that I read that ETH has started to talk to the players individually via Zoom about their own thoughts about what happens next season. The revival could be starting. I'm actually quite optimistic.

I’m cautiously optimistic too.

Unlike LVG and Jose he appears to be on the up rather than having his best years behind him and unlike Moyes and Ole he’s done well at CL level also.

Not read that. I though ETH had categorically ruled out any United talk or involvement (other than maybe signings/player contracts being run by him) until after Ajax’s last game.
