I’m very protective of my children, my parents were the same with my siblings and I, so I would never do what the McCann’s did, but is what they did any worse than allowing your child to go the park on their own which a lot of parents do?

Tbf I used to play out with mates on the park or playing footy etc as a kid but my parents always knew who I was with and where we were going, and we were old enough to fckin leg it if there was any trouble

I don't have kids but my sisters got a 4 year old and a 1 year old and I see them often. There's absolutely no way I could imagine leaving them, especially the 1 year old in the house (in a fairly quiet residential area) on their own for a couple of hours. It actually makes me feel anxious thinking about them in that situation.

1 years old ffs and you're not even in the same building as them.

Anyway. I think what people are trying to say, is that of course they were wrong to leave their kids alone, but the outcome was disproportionate to their actions.

By saying you have no sympathy for the parents, you are essentially saying they deserved for the kid to die as a result of their actions.

as far as sympathy goes, sorry, but i struggle to have any for them, but thats because for me all sympathy should go to that little girl and potentially the horrific ordeal that she went through.

who the actual phuq would allow their 3 year old daughter go to the local park by herself to play with people you don't actually know?

Or who the actual phuq would leave their 3 year old daughter in the house to fend for themselves, especially in an unfamiliar apartment in a foreign resort, whilst you both went out to a local bar for an evening meal and drinks jolly

errr, we don't know who the murderer is yet. Or if there even is one.

Err, we have a good idea.
But all I read is how bad the parents are.

The law must be applied very carefully in this case, so as to secure a conviction.

You don't though. How could you possibly know. You just want it to be this guy because you have read a newspaper. You say you have no 'knowledge' about it to some posters on here and to others you tell us that it is almost certainly him and we should all be crucifying him already. It could turn out to be this guy, but the evidence the police have against him is circumstantial at best. The police now say they have 'new' evidence to nail him, but wont say what it is except its not forensic. They have been saying that for years, about him. Lets wait until he is charged and convicted before we judge him.

Meanwhile the parents originally were irresponsible towards the child and have acted strangely with the police investigations ever since. These are facts.
