Both players have had a bashing (I include myself in that , especially with Sessgnon recently) but fair play to both of them ….easily their best games for us
Thought Sessgnon played Salah perfectly….didn’t give him an inch and then when we needed an outlet he was always available down the left ….he was working so hard, no wonder he needed subbing
Royal wasn’t as dynamic down the right but was equally as solid ….he is a cracking fullback just needs to work on his attacking play ….I think he deserves one more season before judging him properly
If Sessgnon can keep up that form against Arsenal on Thursday then the wing back positions aren’t as bad as we thought with Doherty to come back in
I thought everyone played well and although a point wasn’t enough I would have snatched your hand off if offered it before the match
It was the performance that impressed me the most ….we were solid but when we broke we looked good every time and could have won it at the death (to be fair though we did all know Liverpool would play into our game a bit with how they play but we still had to defend well and break quickly and we did both )
Come on Leeds ! Although I think Arsenal will win today but drop points against Newcastle
If we play like we did last night Thursday night then we will beat Arsenal however they will probably be more conservative than Liverpool were

For all their 22 shots, only 3 were on target - same as us.
They had loads of the ball and moved it well but I can’t really remember many of their chances.

Sessegnon was actually taking on his man when he got the ball yesterday, great to see.

People keep talking up Newcastle. They'll get humped in both games IMO

I thought both were pretty solid defensively yesterday. After all that is what their first port of call is supposed to be, defending. Good confidence booster for Thursday.

I think there’s more important areas that need resolving before replacing the wing backs.
Reggie and Doherty are our first choices and they’re solid, Doherty had been especially good before his injury.
Rather we spend big money on a centre back and a striker.

Royal is a pretty good defender but no wingback. Couldn’t believe his attempted pass to Son when we were in for a second goal and he ballooned it.
I don’t rate Sessegnon and thought his general contribution going forward wasn’t great bar the pass for the goal. He doesn’t look like he really believes in himself as he’s running at people and his crosses are always speculative. But then Danny Rose’s crossing wasn’t all that.
Like you say though, both did very well defensively.
I guess it’s a tough ask to find a WB that is as good defensively as going forward. That’s what our “scouting network” is for🤣
Need two quality wingbacks if Conte is sticking around.

I agree with this.
The attacking element of a RWB is essential, otherwise there is little point in playing a wing back and that is where he fails. Twice he could have put in decisive crosses and failed. He's not dreadful but he's just not very Brazilian !
Did very well with Diaz, Showed him inside a lot, into the crowd and his goal was lucky and typical of Liverpood efforts last night, mainly from range and a bit speculative

Exactly why he deserved special praise
Defensively he made one error with that crazy header other than that he was immaculate
Not only that he picked his timings to get forward perfectly too ….starting to see why he is preferred to Reggie ….physically he is certainly more imposing

Sessegnon has always been a player with a lot of promise and potential, injuries and lack of game time has had a devastating effect on the lad, let's hope he's over all that now
