UEFA agrees to ditch coefficient plan and from 2024 will award two Champions League places to the two countries whose clubs perform best in Europe that season (would be England and Holland this season)
If system was in place this season whoever finished 5th in PL would qualify for CL whether Man Utd, West Ham or whoever (club ranking will not be used).
UEFA has also agreed to reduce number of group matches in CL from 10 to eight under new Swiss model from 2024, sources have confirmed, after striking a deal with the clubs

Thoughts? Given England’s performance in Europe over the last 10 years then it looks like Top 5 will be getting a CL entry in 2 years time.

I think you will find it was Spurs and Celtic who set the standard for British clubs in European competition. Spurs being the first British Club to win a European competition and Celtic the first to win the European cup.

Hibs were the first British side to make a European Cup semi final. Dundee made the semi finals in 62/63 after beating Cologne 8-1 at home and just missing out on the final despite a 1-0 home win over eventual champions AC Milan in the semi finals.
