I've been a bluenose for about 60 years so this post is not an easy one to write.
Congratulations to Celtic on their title win....they were slightly better than us over the piece, but in all fairness there wasn't much in it....4 points probably over an entire season? Their board deserve credit however for seeing what was necessary to reduce a 25 point deficit from last season when they were in a mess. They got new manager in - an unknown in Scotland - backed him with sufficient funds, and 1 season later are champions.....simple!
Our board however, despite knowing Celtic would get a new manager in and throw money at the problem, were complacent. They seemed to rest on their laurels and probably that also led to Gerrard's departure.
In the transfer market we were complacent, and too cautious. We got some bodies in but in honesty only Lundstram, belatedly, strengthened the 'first eleven' The others just filled out the squad...Diallo, Ramsey, Sands, Zukowski. Of late Sakala, and possibly Wright, have made some progress but only Lundstram has cemented a place in our starting eleven
Moving forward to next season it seems that the Celtic board will strengthen again. This time we must anticipate this, and react accordingly.
All so unnecessary...
