Double header

JM is not my favourite, but we have to admit he has inherited a sh!tshow. Injuries, shell-shocked and burned out players, lack of depth, square pegs and ar$eholes. None of this is his fault. Some of his comments and actions are questionable. Most of them are, actually, but he has eked out results and as painful as the last three have been, we did not seriously expect to take points from them.
We are looking at the biggest double-header of the last four years. It's our play-off final all over again and if there is a flicker of hope, it's that we have been here before. KP and Coops can be our leaders tomorrow. Bamford and Stuey need to get behind the team and steady the nerves. It's two games. Six points and we stay up, but four points might be enough. If we beat Brighton, we might have enough to take the sting out of the Bees.
And you know what, if JM gets his transfer window, and the chance to start on an even playing field, who knows what we might see?

He took over a team who had just lost 0-4 to spurs. An xg of 1.90 v 2.47. Missed chances aplenty versus clinical world class attackers on the opposition side.

His first game we completely dominated Leicester
Xg 0.36 to leeds 2.14 and we somehow managed to lose. Arguably that was his only decent performance in charge of leeds as we have got worse and worse under him.
Fluked a win against Norwich when his terrible substitutions almost cost us 2 points.
Fluked a win at Wolves when jiminez was shown red.
Poor at home to Southampton.
Scraped a point at palace.

We look no better defensively
We look far far worse offensively to the point where we don’t look like scoring
We can’t pass anymore mainly because Players don’t want the ball.
Discipline is now the pits

Yes it wasn’t great when he took over but it’s worse now. I wouldn’t have labelled It a sh1tshow back then but I would now. You talk about square pegs - He is the one playing Raphinha at right back, Favoring struijk over Firpo, playing James as a striker, and finishing with Koch on the right wing.

He was the one who injured Bamford - maybe he would have been back a couple of weeks ago had he any understanding of player welfare.

He has 2 games to save the season and for me save his job. 2 decent performances required with some evidence of an actual gameplan.

ffs he had to try something different cos what we were doing was obviously not working

Kebab, he took over a sh*t show and it’s a different kind of sh*t show now. That spurs side had just been outplayed at Burnley. Marsch did improve us defensively initially - our xg against improved. And even with 10 men against two of the better attacking sides in the league it wasn’t terrible. We are worse with the ball no question. The players can’t/haven’t adapted to the narrow formation and are struggling to find an outball. They also can’t pass water and make the passes when they are on… which has been a problem all season

As for players out of position and injuries - you can make an argument he’s having to play the hand he was dealt there.

Brighton are a good side and would be much higher up the table if they had reliable goal scorers. Unfortunately they’ve now remembered where the net is, so it’s a very difficult game against a side that outplayed us 3 times against bielsa.

We’ll need some luck, probably lots of it.

The team needed strengthening in the summer and wasn't. They got injuries under Bielsa's regime and lacked the depth to deal with it. They didn't do anything in January to try to rectify the situation. All this before JM came, so looking for a scapegoat in JM when the blame lies elsewhere is avoiding the truth. If he's the right mand for the job is another matter, but anyone coming in to sort out this poor side that punched above it's weight last season would have been in the same boat. Give the man some slack and look for the blame on people before he came.

I would cut him some slack, but he does talk a load of $hite.

JM has shown nothing to make me think we've improved or our chances of winning are better. Don't like his style probably never will but I won't be screaming for head. Our problems stem from further up the ladder.
Imo we would have been better off with leaving the chore of survival to the man who got us here.
Our board has ruined what we waited two decades for

I think that saying it's not Marsch's fault because he inherited a mess is missing the point.

The reason Bielsa was sacked and Marsch brought in was because the owners and presumably Marsch himself thought they could do better with the resources available.

All I see is worse. A bad call to get rid of MB.

Thing is, what we are seeing isn’t really his style - he has a rep for trying to outscore the opposition.

His Salzburg side lost 4-3 to Liverpool. His Leipzig side 6-3 to city. I don’t think the football we’re seeing is what he wants. I sure hope not! He’s just trying to keep us up with what resources are available to him.

I’m confused Kebab….
Aren’t you usually upbeat and not into being critical of JM? The mindset of give him a chance? That comment seems contrary to that.
