According to the report in the Mercury of an interview with Rodgers, the decision to play Ward was made last week and he was getting the Norwich and Watford games. He felt it was unhealthy to have a player who didn’t get to play, especially for a four year period (not counting cup games). Ward had a minor knee issue for the Norwich game which is why he didn’t play. Kasper will be back for the final two matches.
So, not dropped. Fair enough.

Fair comment TB, although today would have been number 150 consecutive premier league appearances, he would only have been on 148 were it not for Ward’s unavailability on Wednesday.
Good to read that Ward proved to be an able deputy though and as Rodgers says, he is fortunate to have two number ones. He’s certainly played well enough to now be the number one choice for Wales.

TB - you really have taken a dislike to Brendan haven't you!
Just as a matter of interest, if the management decided to dispense with his services, who would you want to see replace him?

Potter would be first choice.

I have my concerns on the current situation but the risks of removing Rodgers are pretty much as big as the risks of keeping him.
He’s a good coach but at Liverpool and Celtic all fans used the same phrase “started well, played great football but then reverted to possession and it all went stale”. Now I would think that was ex club critics unless we weren’t seeing exactly the same here.
So I am left asking the question as to whether his methods have a shelf life. I’m not saying they do, I’m just asking that question.
Do I think Potter could do a great job with our current squad. Yes. But there are no guarantees in football and Rodgers looks to have taken us to a European semi and achieved a top 10 finish. With all the injuries we’ve had that’s not bad on paper.
But we’ve not been watching football on paper and many fans including me have seen something not quite right recently. It’s clear players will be leaving in the summer and I’m confident Rodgers will be overseeing it. This is a big point for him to prove he can keep a team fresh and his methods can work in the long term.
I hope they can.
