SAT-TUE or THU-SUN

What is the difference?

Both 2 days in between.

PL - CL match
EL - PL match

Either way it impacts the team the same, no?

Just asking because there seems to be a general thought that Thu-Sun is worse than Sat-Tue.

I think it’s that feeling that you are forever playing catch up.

We are getting used to that, Thursdays or not.

Weds night to Sat morning has finally been binned. You can all thank Klopp.

Thursday-Sunday is worse because in this scenario the European fixture, being Europa League or (shudder) Conference League, is much lower priority than the domestic fixture. Therefore you have less recovery time (three days) for the more important fixture, and more recovery time (four days) for the less important one.

Also if your playing at home to a top 6 side on the Sunday, no fecker wants to be travelling to Bratislava on the Thursday - that fixture just gets in the way of all the planning

CL games are Tue and Wed.

Yes I know, the team that plays CL on Wed probably plays the Sun before, so that is again the same difference bar the odd exception.

Yes, but how is that different from playing a top 6 side on Sat and then travel to Poland for a CL match. It messes up preparation either way.

I think the wider problem Is that the europa league/conference league sides don't have big quality squads so the drop off from the best XI to the fringe players is larger, so the best XI pretty much have to play every game.

We've seen with Spurs what can happen if you field a weakened team even in the conference league, and we will have the same issue unless our owners do something drastic.

If you’re playing on Thursday nights most of your games will be on a Saturday

I much prefer going to games and having a few beers on a Saturday.

No they will not.

I hate when we play Sundays, would rather play Saturdays so I can have the whole Sunday free.
But with EL, most of the games fall on Sundays.
