Mbappe set to stay at PSG

News out now pretty much confirming that Mbappe has turned down Real Madrid and will stay at PSG.

I have to admit, as much as I like Real, this is a great move by Mbappe.

I’ve always thought from a legacy standpoint, that it would be better for him to stay in Paris. A bit like Jordan built up the Chicago Bulls, or like LeBron spent most of his prime years in Cleveland. If Mbappe went to Real, his numbers would never surpass Ronaldo or Messi’s in Spain anyway.

This way, he carves out his own path and this will help his GOAT case. Not too mention he’s about to be made the highest paid and most powerful player in pro football, with PSG reportedly handing over football-related decision-making power to him.

He’s basically going to win a league title per year in France, so if he wins another World Cup and a couple of UCL titles, he’d be the GOAT.

First mbappe sacking already, leonardo (sporting director) is gone

Poch is gone as well per reports.

Mbappe flexing his muscles.

He’s going to be #1 on the Forbes Highest Earning Athletes list next year as well. €150m sign on bonus, €40m salary, plus all his off field earnings. Messi was top this year with $130m, so Mbappe will sail past that.

If his decision is for football reasons which is unlikely I can see why he had reservations about Madrid.

Despite being in a CL final they are not an elite side. Key players are ageing and this isn’t a huge amount of young talent there.

As much as I’d have hated it as a United fan he really should have pushed for Liverpool or City.

People talking about him wasting the chance to achieve GOAT status because of this, when it's looking more and more clear he isn't going to be able to eclipse Messi/Ronaldo anyway just through his own ability. He's not even doing any more than an over 30 year old Zlatan was doing at PSG.

Regardless of the quality of the league he plays in compared to La Liga, he's going to have to increase his output at PSG just to get near to them.

This. Great player but those 2 were on another level. I’d be surprised if we even get to the stage where Mbappe is the undisputed best player in the world currently playing.
