No player is bigger than the club?

Well that’s no longer the case if the below details are anyway correct:

✍️ Kylian Mbappé signing a new 3-year contract at PSG:

👉 €300M signing bonus
👉 €100M a year salary AFTER tax
👉 He will help decide the coach.
👉 He will have a say on the sporting director.
👉 He can approve signings and sales

How ridiculous

No way had he been given any transfer powers. Maybe he's been involved in terms of knowing targets and promises about the level of player they are aiming for but not actual decision making power.

The money is obscene enough though. I think something has to be fine about signing on bonuses etc as they are leading to this situation where loads of players are running their contracts down as they know they can get stupid money at the end of it.

Those numbers are false. It's...

150m euros sign on
40m euros gross salary (21m net)

Doesn't he get all his marketing rights too? Madrid couldn't compete with that and I'm sure that's an integral part of why he'd stay, from a financial point of view, if true. Gotta be worth insane $ and no way Madrid could do that.

Tbf from what I’ve read, Madrid pretty much matched PSG’s offer. They were desperate for him.

I think in the end he wanted to stay ‘home’ given that the financial offers were equal, and at PSG he gets to play with Neymar, Messi, Ramos etc.

They offered 50% image rights whereas PSG offered him 100%. Overlooked detail that in my view is the real reason no one could compete with psg financially.
100% image rights is bonkers when u are paying a signing fee and wages that size.

Madrid have spent for decades like they weren't a business but a passion project, knowing they'd be bailed out when spending irresponsibly. Now their league is complaining because a club that is actually a passion project and not a business blows their teams out of the water financially 😂

PSG are a joke but it's still funny. At least city act in a classier manner and try and at least look like they try and respect ffp. PSG just blatantly flex on spending $ like a teenage lottery winner 😂

I don't think fifa/euro federations have the balls to even try and penalise City/psg. Their owners lawyers would obliterate and drain so much $ from the federations I think they'd bottle it. It'd be like when the scientologists made the IRS back off cos they were just so much bother.

Yeah it’s nice seeing the meltdown from Real fans online, and the hypocrisy of it all.

La Liga embarrassing themselves as well with this weird complaint.

Cos they know the bigger picture isn't good. As their big two lose their ability to compete financially, whether it's their fault or not, they know it'll just make em want to join a super league at worst, or ask for more league $ at best. Both options are a nightmare for La Liga.

Remember when serie A was THE league and every Sunday we flocked to watch the world's best. It's like La Liga hasn't learnt the lessons that caused the Italian league to implode. La Liga have to take the blame cos they were happy for their teams to spend wildly until they couldn't do it anymore. Spanish league has more parallels with Scottish league than PL and La Liga know they are in a lose lose scenario.

Its madrids policy to only allow 50percent on image rights

Have done for years

Looks like they will need to drop that in the future
