Just watching his first press conference.
He’ll be taking this Prem like Walter took the meth game

Hahaha
McLaren as 2 was never a problem. In fact he’s the closest assistant manager to the QUAD we’ve ever had.
Or anyone else (except the Celtic guy) for that matter.

McClaren*

Hmm.. I mean, he was there, I always felt he got lucky, the timing of when he came. Then he left. And I’ll always say the class of ‘92 under-achieved.
They were the best in the world for like 3 seasons. But just one CL final.
Whereas Carlos Quieroz, was fundamental in the next rebuild, with CR7, and he left after the season we win CL. And then UTD go onto 2 more CL finals in 4 years.
But that was the groundwork he and SAF did together.
So this is a scenario McClaren hasn’t been in with UTD.
He won’t recognise this UTD. Can he help bring us back to the promise land, and for me, I just want us competing for the Title. Everything else will follow.
But make us a bonafide threat again.

McClaren in the 90s was an innovator who introduced a number of new technologies and methods to the club. By the time he was at Twente, he was no longer at the forefront of innovation (and was in the position of benefiting from the new ideas his assistant Ten Hag brought to the table) but had enough experience to be a good front-man. Now I'd assume he's not going to be the man bringing cutting edge ideas into the coaching mix, but he's there as an experienced guy who understands Ten Hag's ideas, has his trust, and has a sense of what the PL, English football, and the club are.

Yeah, I read that about him before. Quite meticulous. Fergie wasn't much different.
This is a good read about ETH:

Yeah good point Barf, SAF, or Fergie as he was known then, loved that name by the way, always sounded bitter when I heard it, grate stuff. Anyway, good point, Fergie was always in touch with the family aspect, what a guy.
Not sure that will work as much these days with social media contracts etc, but, yeah, good to see he has that touch of class.

And trying to get media onside by introducing himself individually.
10 minutes of time, that seemed really inane and boring on the face, will give him respect with each individual journalist he shook hands with.
For a game, at least.
