Man Utd Stadium Tour Review: Juggernaut

As many of you are more than aware, to really expand my article portfolio these last few months I decided to create a new 'stadium tour' series to further engage users on the website and also gain further knowledge of what makes some of our rivals tick. Earlier this year I did Anfield, then The Etihad and finally topped the treble (deliberate ) off with the Old Trafford stadium and museum tour.

I raised my concerns about Liverpool when I visited Anfield as to how well run it now is as an institution and the modern feel about the club. I think I said something like if we aren't careful they may catch up to us on and off the pitch, so good was their stadium + museum tour. I was wrong. Doing the tour of Old Trafford hammers home that feeling that we simply are just bigger than the likes of Liverpool. City don't come into it as they don't have as much history.

The operational oversight of how the tour starts is superb. Quick security check (plus point for me) and then you're heading up escalators and right into the museum. Now my initial feeling, having had about 15 minutes in there waiting for my slot, was one of disappointment. For a juggernaut like us, I didn't feel there was nearly enough memorabilia or references to 1999 in sight. More on that later!

At 1 hour and 10 minutes, the actual tour itself is on the shorter side but in no way shape or form does that detract from the experience. Outstanding tour guide who was welcoming even to some Liverpool fans! I could smell his passion for the club and I respected the fact that several acknowledgements were made at our current predicament. Honesty is the best policy. I loved learning how our original players' tunnel is still standing because not even Hitler could take it down with his bombs, as well as how far ahead we are in treatment of our disabled fans. Dressing room was underwhelming but that's about it. Great lining up in the present-day tunnel and hearing 'This Is The One' blurt out alongside matchday sounds.

The deceptive beauty of our tour is the fact that your initial 'museum' experience is only about half of it. As the biggest juggernaut in English football, our entire history is spaced across two floors and not just the one. Downstairs you find more memorabilia and the highlight of the tour for me: The Treble Exhibition. Now don't get me wrong, initially I was concerned that I hadn't seen our 1999 UCL trophy anywhere on the tour but those fears were quashed as you reach the end of the exhibition and see it resting there alongside the league and FA cup.

Here are some photos of my experience:

To sum the tour up perfectly: Manchester United are the biggest juggernaut in English football and our stadium tour let's you know that. For a stadium that sits so close to King's Road, I suppose it's only fair to say that that's the case now, today, tomorrow and always.

9/10

Series 2 of Culer's stadium tours is coming later this year.

OP why did you delete my comment pointing out that the UCL trophy at United is a replica?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because it’s not true
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could have just said that instead of deleting the comment.

And its definitely true. UCL winning clubs get replica trophies. You get the real trophy once you've won it 5 times.

Look it up if you think I'm pulling your leg.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was just reading that since 2009 they stopped giving the real trophy to five time winners. So Liverpool will be the last five time winner to keep it.
Culer, Liverpool have utd's '99 trophy.

So our resident global tycoon with his billionaire business network regularly tries to cheat paying for modest meals and uses virgin experience days vouchers…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the entrepreneur in me. Always looking for a bit of a deal.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
There’s deals and there’s fraudulently weaselling your way out of paying for honest meals…
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fraud: “Fraud is an intentionally deceptive action designed to provide the perpetrator with an unlawful gain”

What you’re suggesting is literally the definition of fraud.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What a worm. Bet he doesn't tip either.

United are the biggest team. Who counts trophies won to measure success anyway.

Don't try and pretend you didn't slag me off on that thread Boris made about me. Honestly the abuse I receive is disgusting and people like you bring petrol to pour onto the fire.

It stops now.

Looks like Fabinho and Thiago will play in the UCL final. Seems like Klopp has been lying through his teeth then, as it was only days ago he said both Thiago and Fabinho wouldn’t play. Real tainted feel about the UCL final now.
