Ancelotti

👏👏👏

To win the CL with that real team against that Liverpool team is an incredible achievement.

Fair play.

Don't wanna hear people questioning him being a top manager again tbh, he's top tier.

Defended a title ?? When was that ever a vital credential to be considered a great ? That's just shifting the goalposts to find a chink in his record.

Of course Ancelotti is a great, he's won more Champions League titles than any other manager as well as winning the league in every country he's managed in.

If that doesn't put you among the greats then nothing does.

Has anyone said he isn’t among the greats?

If Pep fails to land them the CL before he leaves, they could do worse than going for Carlo to land them the big one - if he’s still managing then.

Well many managers will tell you it's harder to defend a title than win a first one and the other greats have defended titles while Ancelotti has not, so yes it would help his cause. For his longevity he hasn't won that many league titles, and while he's won titles all over the place they have been at the best clubs.

We can call him a great but he's not as good as certain other managers.

He only has 5 league titles and considering the clubs he has managed that’s poor.
Secondly they were second best to PSG, Chelsea and City. Probably saved their best performance for Liverpool where I thought they had their first decent game since the group stages.

But tactically he is a genius, up there with the likes of Pep. Has had his own CL nightmares though including again United in 99 and Istanbul which was a shocking loss considering the team he had and how awful Liverpool were.

Champions League wins involve more luck than league titles. When it's over 38 games it tends to be less about the luck but in cup competitions you can have moments that run for you. Granted to win 4 of them you are obviously doing something right.

I think the likes of Juventus and Man Utd might have something to say about that.

Criticising Ancelotti for not defending a title when he's won 4 Champions Leagues and 5 titles in 5 different countries is the epitome of nitpicking.

21 major trophies and counting as a manager says it all. He's undoubtedly one of the greats.

Would you put up the same defense for Pep?
Nobody is saying he isn’t great but the man’s domestic league record is shocking. He has been in management for 28 years mostly at top clubs but he has 5 league titles.

Pep has been in management for 14 years and has double that.

Ancelotti lost the league to Bordeaux as PSG Manager. That’s not not picking, it’s poor.

Modric is an absolute bad man even at his age. He's deceptively fast.
Militao is a unit. The keepers a unit, benzema is also a bad man.
There you go, a spine to rival any top club.

Compare that with de gea, Maguire, MCt, Ronnie and you wonder why we have issues

He certainly has our number. 4 times we played against his napoli side and we scored once. Another clean sheet last night.

He even won against us with everton.

Hes our kryptonite.

I certainly class Pep as a great of course. But likewise you can pick holes in his managerial record when you look at the glaring lack of success he's had in Europe since leaving Barca all those years ago.

Even the greats have major imperfections in their managerial records. In Carlo's case he didn't win enough leagues but four CL's makes up for that. And Carlo was unlucky for that not to be five CL's when you consider his great AC Milan side should have won it in 2005 being 3-0 at half time.
