The fact he plays for Madrid will have a lot of influence, unlike Lewandowski.

He’s the complete striker, there’s no real weakness in his play. When he first came through, it was said he will be a ballon d’Or winner one day and now he has a chance.

He’s doesn’t have ‘a chance’. He’s already got it.

They’ve made the Ballon d’Or seasonal now, so the WC counts for the first 2023 award.

For 2022, only Mane could have stopped him but now that he’s won La Liga (top scorer), CL (top scorer inc. 10 KO stage goals) and Nations League (MOTM in Final), it’s over.

No they didn’t lol.

Last year was considered a 2 horse race between Messi & Lewa, and whoever had a better summer tournament (Euros/Copa) was likely to win. Messi won the Copa so he got the award.

Messi for me, ended a 1 year title drought for cash strapped PSG.

Can’t see how anyone else gets it. CL winner equalling the record for knockout stage goals. It would be a farce if anyone gets close.

Obviously somebody will get close because somebody else will be nominated and somebody will come second. This is a dumb post.

Benzema is a lock to win the award this year. No one else is in contention. It’s over.

This time last year, Lewandowski was not a lock. Both him and Messi got KO’d by PSG in the CL and the general consensus was that the summer tournaments would swing it one way or the other.
