PFA - Footballer of the year

Goes to the Egyptian King for the 2nd time

This is always the main footballer of the year award voted by the players.

Golden boot winner, top assister, goal of the season. Clear winner.

Sign that contract now Mo!

Team of season has not been announced yet so Maguire still has a chance.

It’s impressive but without winning anything of note makes it all a little worthless.

I remember the season we won the treble Bayern were going for the quad and then lost the cup final and CL final and felt their season was ultimately a failure.

Klopp will be very proud of his players but they will all be absolutely gutted at not winning the PL or CL. Not a single one of them will be happy about how well they did to get so far and then fail.

To get to where Liverpool did this season even though they fell short at the last hurdles was still incredibly impressive and likely won't be matched for a long time.

…..

Of course it was impressive. But they didn’t end up with the two big prizes.

Liverpool became the first team to play every game in the season, lost the league by a point and went all the way to the final in Europe and won the domestic cup double. Klopp beat all the other top managers in the head to head, including Pep.

A greater managerial achievement than just winning the league alone.

Will this year go down as a fantastic achievement or will it be the one where Liverpool failed to win anything anyone cares about.

The season Liverpool failed from a fantastic position sounds better.

I’m pretty sure every single Liverpool player would swap the ‘achievements’ you’ve mentioned for either a PL or CL trophy. Not even comparable.

Not to mention he didn't "win" the golden boot. He shared it with Son. Bit like insisting early in the season that Liverpool were joint top, when goal difference clearly made them second to Spurs.
Typical. Twisting any sort of narrative to favour us. Next you will be saying Salah got a cup for this award, so "we" won a treble this season.

Has Son finished his golden boot parade in South Korea yet? Poor guy, thats the only silverware he will lift in his career.

The thing stopping Salah winning the Ballon D’or is his consistent failure to be a clutch player in the big game/moment. He’s never scored a non-penalty goal in the many finals he’s played in his career. Not one.

Meh.

there a bit more than that stopping it in fairness.

Lewandowksi deserved it the last two years. stellar numbers
Messi didn't deserve the last one he got though. lew was robbed.
Modric just about deserved one.

Salah has not got the same level of consistency as any of the above. He got 6 months of a great season in this year and blew up. He was a bicep flick away form that CL goal after a great control and decent shot though.

I would have to comment that a lot of times they are awards on an accumulation of things and lewandowski was robbed a couple times so was given it back.

Salah will just have to actually score 40 not just say it was his target this time
