Andy O’Boyle has been appointed as Manchester United’s Deputy Football Director, further strengthening leadership across the club’s football department.
O’Boyle will leave his current role as Head of Elite Performance at the Premier League to join United this summer.
He will provide support to John Murtough, Football Director, in driving the club’s football strategy across the first team, Academy and women’s team.

Arnold - Chief Exec. Signs the cheques.
Murtough - Head of everything football.
O'Boyle - Murtoughs No 2.
Brown - Head of recruitment. Reports into Murtough.
Scouts - Report into Brown.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And to think that SAF pretty much did it single handedly.

Looks like too many cooks spoiling the broth. How many of them could describe the offside rule?

To be fair, after RM’s disallowed goal in the CL league final, how many people could describe the offside rule 🤨

I’m totally confused. Hope it works but I’m not holding my breath.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What are you confused about mate?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All of their roles and what they’ll be doing etc
Is this a similar structure to City do you know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Murtough is in charge of all things football at the club. O'Boyd assists him.
Brown oversees the scouts and analysts and does the negotiating.

If you don’t mind, I have a very rose tinted memory of our once glorious football club ran single handedly by the greatest manager in the history of every worldly sport played with a ball that I’ll thank you for not tarnishing with facts!

I like how RDD was always going on about how great the set up at United was and now it looks like its completely changed from only a couple years back (apart from the Glazers) yet he doesnt seem to see why that is.

Kenyan and later Gill handled all the business side of football.
Fergie and his team handled player identification, coaching and development.
Fergie was obviously involved in transfers but more on the personal level than the business side.

Yep
The entire model has been torn to shreds and completely rebuilt.
Given that there’s still nobody on the exec board that’d have half a clue, I’d suspect that it has primarily been Murtough who has shaped the new sporting design.
Which at least gives the new model a better chance than that of RDD’s lifetime hero Ed Woodward.
