Sad news about Andy Goram

Such sad news. And I hear he’s not going to have treatment, so it does not impact his quality of life.

What a truly exceptional goalkeeper he was.

During an interview, the late Tommy Burns said something along the lines of

“When I pass on, they’ll have to put on my headstone, Andy Goram broke my heart."

As my aging memory recalls, Tommy was referring to a specific Old Firm derby where Celtic completely dominated and drew nil-nil in what went on to be Rangers’ 8th league title in a row.

As the then manager of one half of what I consider to be the fiercest local rivalry in football, I think that is one hell of a tribute.

I hope as “The Goalie" has said he does spend what time he has left, living his best life.

Anyone have any anecdotes about him? I’ve heard a couple, including one around how he believed a call from Sir Alex inviting him to sign for United, was a McCoist prank call? Not sure how true it was?

Later, it was revealed that Goram was suffering from a mild form of schizophrenia, and while it was brave for the goalkeeper to go public with his diagnosis it did lead to some vicious taunts from opposing fans. Cruelly, Kilmarnock's faithful once sang “There's only two Andy Gorams

I thought this was funny.

It's actually quite a clever riposte.
Get you, Kilmarnock.
