It’s the manner of our latest inglorious failure that’s tough to take. Never easy at the end of a long, hard season, and with KT missing, but to basically not turn up for an opportunity of this magnitude is a real kick in the stones. The only positive this morning is that we’ve saved ourselves from the bigger agony of fecking it up in Cardiff. Stevie Clarke saying we need to get back on the horse and go again. Good luck with that, mate … the horse has bolted!

As has been said, only really Gordon & CalMac came out of that horror show with any credit at all. Too big a game to throw in Hickey, but we had very limited alternatives in SOD, so hope the young guy learns greatly from the experience. Robbo has run himself into the ground this season, but once again in a Scotland jersey looked a shadow of the player. CBs got dragged all over the shop and never looked comfortable as a unit all night … maybe understandable given McT is not a CB, and never will be … and Hanley & Cooper’s club sides have been getting pumped rotten all season. No words to describe how poor we were offensively, and our overall ball retention was pub team standard. Special mention for McGinn though … unbelievably poor. Did his usual party trick of sticking his massive erse into players and falling over to “win” free kicks, and missed an absolute sitter at a time when an unlikely comeback might have been on … otherwise zip.
