Pogba

He’s officially gone. I doubt any of us are fussed but I wonder who he’s gonna sign for now.

But you seem to be ignoring the issue of never playing Pogba to his strengths or not having quality around him which were big factors. Virtually every player has struggled and under performed at United post Ferguson, this isnt just an issue to do with Pogba.

I refer back to my Gullit comment. While I've been corrected that Gullit didn't improve Chelsea by himself when he joined, he still shone; he didn't have to play to his strengths to shine, he even played a position new to him. This indicates Pogba isn't a top player as he would be able to adapt even if the team itself isn't great. I'm not arguing that Pogba is a bad player, but he hasn't worked hard enough to overcome the limitations of the team in order to play consistently well at least on a personal level. Gullit is a better player than Pogba, but this isn't because of ability but mentality.

Just look at the support for McTominay vs Pogba.

Scott is a massively inferior footballer (technically) but applies the absolute basics/bare minimum that a footballer should: he works hard.

And the fans cut him a lot more slack than Pogba because of it, and rightly so.

Pogba can't do the absolute bare minimum, so when he does a pirouette in CDM position and loses the ball, leading to a break/goal for the other team it is particularly infuriating.

I'm amazed people still try to make out he's world class - he's just not, and he's proven it. Good riddance.

He is world class, at certain things. Incisive long passing, control. He’s not the deep lying game controller done people expected, deficiencies exposed there. Seems a wasted opportunity to me, he shines in teams with quality team mates, ie France, but he needs the supporting cast.

Good luck Paul.

But using 1 player (who was WC and played 20-30 years ago) to prove Pogba isnt good enough is a bit odd

Manchester United isn’t an environment where footballers thrive. But I just don’t understand why so many people talk about Pogba this that and the other on the pitch all the time when he’s always bloody injured. That’s been by far his biggest problem, irrespective of the other issues that he and the club contribute.

There’s a weird cult around blaming him for all his and the club’s woes, both in and outside the club. It’s bizarre.

Pogba is an odd one in that those who criticise him the most, appear to be the ones who rate his ability more than anyone else.

For me he should be used as a No 10.

It’s not that clear cut, come on Rude.
Mistakes in both sides. Utd deffo failed him, like they have others.
According to UTD, there a lack of motivation, how has that been allowed to happen?
It comes from the top down. And has finally hit the players. That’s according to UTD hierarchy.

I love you stringer so I'm not gonna argue. But I strongly disagree. His effort level was a major issue

it’s all good man. I understand the frustration with Pogba. And I’m not screaming for him to stay.
I’m not gutted he’s going. It’s best all round.
But I am gutted, that it didn’t work out the way we thought when he came back.
He does love UTD. It’s a shame, but chapter closed. And we move.
