Bostock not sticking around

It is entirely apposite to describe him as a luxury. He can look good as a footballer with defence-splitting passes. But he took no risks, passing safely sideways or backwards more often than not. He did not run much and avoided tackling. A team of Bostocks would be difficult to dispossess if they got the ball, but would they score any goals?

Let him infuse his touch of class elsewhere where those around him do the fetching and carrying but let it not be at DRFC where we need better value for money.

Having seen the video it seems that the back of the shirt is plain black, so a big space for white names and numbers.

It's good camouflage and we did beat Brentford in Green!

I do hope Tomlin signs. As an impact player rather than a regular 90 minute player. I think this is how GM sees him and his previous form would suggest.

Kyle Hurst another very promising signing.

Now Tomlin! I can’t remember when there has ever been such an avalanche of good things happening.

Certainly an exciting end to pre-season, and showing optimism for the upcoming season.
We certainly have a large contingent of mid-fielders, and picking the right mix with the forwards could give us some attacking threat. I'm still a little concerned about the back four, especially in the middle. When Anderson is fit, will he be a little too slow, or become a towering figure like Corporal Jones?
Anyway, I've told my wife that this Saturday is the last one before I'll be disturbing her to get up for a 07:00 kick-off Pacific Time.
I'm really looking forward to it!

On the face of it GM seems to be creating an environment where the players are appreciated and managed so that they are enjoying being part of the Rovers team. Time will tell if the reality matches the spin. My thoughts are we will create and score a lot more goals this season. But I'm also concerned about our vulnerability on the counter attack which was exposed again against Rotherham. Optomistic at the moment but knowing how fickle we all are it could all change August 1st!

Looking forward to Donaldo's first match preview against Bradford City. Big expectations from Mark Hughes's side. Their pre season form looks impressive. A very big first test for Rovers.

Further thoughts… on the game today by Glen Wilson, editor of the Rovers fanzine.

- Tomlin and Clayton both offer a footballing intelligence and ability to dictate a game we lacked massively last season

- Miller’s knack to create space and get a decent shot off quickly is a huge asset

- Williams looks twice as confident

The FC United (long-distance) highlights are now available. What strikes me about them is the speed of movement. Even in the better times in the past, speed has not been a stand-out feature, but I suppose with enthusiastic fit young players predominant, it is what you would hope for.

I am working on a Bradford preview.
